So no Lakers vs Nets tmmrw?

That would be another L for China.

If the NBA doesn't back down, then China is basically stuck forcing people to choose between the government and the NBA. And some people are going to choose to get pissed off at the government. So far as the NBA doesn't back down then this is going to come out as a W for the protest movement no matter what China does because they've dug themselves a hole assuming the NBA was going to regulate on dissenters.

They will most likely cancel it, today Anta (shoe company) announced that they will no longer renegotiate future NBA deals. Rondo, Klay, Gordon Hayward all could be affected. Their whole country is going overboard lol

Yep, I don't see how anything gets settled quick enough at this point. But the NBA better not do it so China can spin that. Force China to hang that L around their own neck.

I posted about this in Higher Learning before - there's been actual violent revolutions that went down cause governments fukked with people's intense sports fandom.

China's market isn't going anywhere companies need to understand that they don't need to bow down to China. Like 300 million fans are going to stop watching utter ridiculously.

No matter what the state says, they don't have control of a huge sections of culture. China has black markets everywhere. NBA needs to hold the line and if China does follow through would have a bigger black market than the Chinese Banks.

NBA should tell China, :yeshrug:be mad and run ads to the Chinese population outside of China widen the hell of the black market on content!
Eh black market streams, buying rerocc gear, not “publicly” (as public as that country can be I guess) supporting the league on social media, all of these things do nothing for the NBA. One side will get their fix the other won’t

they’re just moving in step with the country. Once it’s settled and back to normal, they’ll take back those words.

China doesn't care. This is a pure power move. They're saying "you criticize us, OK, then fukk your business with us".

All these dictatorships hate to look weak because it is what actually makes them vulnerable and less feared by own people.
