280 mph would transform all the U.S. MegaRegions.
Focus on the main MegaRegions, which is happening at the Speed of Snail, and we'll have improved quality of life in terms of connectivity.
Realistically, I think, most of us we'll be moving around across MegaRegions in 205 - 225 mph VTOLs before we'll be in 280 mph high speed trains.
The fastest Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft include:
- Airspeeder Mk4
This electric VTOL can reach a top speed of 225 mph in 30 seconds. It's designed for the sport of piloted airspeeder racing and has a range of 300 kilometers.
- Joby S4
This eVTOL has a top speed of 205 mph and a range of 150 miles.
- Horizon Aircraft's Cavorite X5
This hybrid VTOL has a projected top speed of 285 mph and a range of 250 to 600 miles. It uses a jet-fuel-burning turbine and a wing assembly that parts lengthwise to expose turbofans.
- Sirius
This hydrogen-powered VTOL will combine the aerodynamics of a jet with the versatility of a plane or helicopter. It will use a deflected vectored thrust system with 20 electric ducted fans to take off vertically.
