A prototype of the CR450 EMU (electric multiple units) high-speed train, China's most recently designed high-speed bullet train model, debuted in Beijing on Sunday. When operational, it is expected to reach a speed of 400 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest high-speed train in the world, according to the country's railway operator.

The CR450 prototype reached a test speed of 450 kilometers per hour, with key performance indicators — operational speed, energy consumption, interior noise, and braking distance — setting a new international benchmark, the company said.

Imagine going from NYC to DC in 1 hour on land.:whoo:

People got to understand Chinese shyt isn't bootleg and janky anymore. they reached Japan's level where they can not only copy tech but improve on it. I'm listening to speakers from a Chinese company right now and they are the best speakers I've ever bought

Yeah Chinese companies have come along way in terms of manufacturing quality. Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, etc make some nice electronics at super low prices. It's a shame the US government tried to hard to keep certain Chinese products out of the country...that added competition would be great for consumers.

Alot of them use their own in-house SoC designs or are moving toward in-house design. Huawei's subsidiary HiSilicon designs their CPUs and they're fabbed at SMIC in China. Xiaomi taped out a 3nm chip this year, seems like they're experimenting with in-house chip design so they don't have to rely on Qualcomm.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro - CPU design by HiSilicon (China), fabrication by SMIC (China)

Oppo X8 Pro - CPU design by MediaTek (Taiwan), fabrication by TSMC (Taiwan)

Xiaomi 14 Ultra - CPU design by Qualcomm (USA), fabrication by TSMC (Taiwan)

after reverse engineering blackmarket chips

xiaomi hasnt proved they can mass produce a 3nm chip ... kind of like when Huwei ducktaled about mass producing 5nm chips a year ago

also these threads are silly because they devolve into comparing 2 different type of economies

chinese spurs growth (well until the property bubble collapse0 by infrastructure so theres incentive to do HSR projects like this and also less red tape impeding progress
