Sad that these threads end up revealing how defeated we are, instead seeing both as opps who are raping the continent, we got dudes in here arguing who's the better colonizer.

It more eye opening to me in that these brothers really think they are among "them". They think because our ancestors built it that those that hold the power include us with them. They still haven't even done right by our ancestors.

Yes we are American and certainly have as valid a claim to this land as any. But our status in the "west" is more complicated. We've been relegated as second class citizens, burden bearers of this nation for a long time. Me being American doesn't blind me to unfair policy inflicted on other peoples across the world. I don't champion that no more than I would slavery anywhere, what just because we share proximity with the "winning team"? I can't immediately fear any and everything foreign, when so often I am marginalized in this very country I was born, and my family has been for several generations.

America's failure to reconcile its past, change course and prioritize interest in the welfare of all her citizens is her Achilles heel. Keeping the developing world poor to exploit cheap labor and resources is not a sustainable endevour, even by force, and especially in this world of MAD. Limited resources sure, but there's plenty to go around.
