You dope, I do have investments. 401k. roth IRA, and plan to dump more into index funds this year than ever before. Just because I grew up in America doesn't mean I buy into all the bullshyt. My lowly condo has appreciated 20k and I've only had it a year and 8 months. I want to move soon. Is that good for me? Sure. But I recognize that prices rising this fast is not good for the next person.

I don't bet my personal gains on society getting hosed. AI in open source is great for regular people. fukk the investor class.

I have GPT plus and registered for Deepseek’s phone app yesterday and this shyt is legit. It’s just as in-depth as GPT plus. The fact it can be ran on your computer and not browser based has fukked up openAI’s whole business model. If I can figure out how to create customs Deepseek Agent in the computer like I make GPT Agents I am canceling gpt subscription.

Also just to clarify I don’t use it for coding but I would be considered a heavy GPT user. I have it write briefs, emails, and memos multiple times a day. So my opinion is based on using AI as a writing tool.

That was the corporate version and used for mostly coding. I had the $20 a month version. I been using this stuff heavy since like 2 years ago so I seen it develop and outside of a functionally I rely on because I my writing is very heavily relied on sourcing to specific things I need to build customs GPT Agents. Deepseek is just as good. If Deepseek has an easy functionally to create a closed source of knowledge Chat GPT might go out of business. Though I still think the end game has always been Microsoft buys them, it just depends on how much.

Nah Elon took a hit too. Grok was his AI and it’s pointless as well. All of this can be traced to Zuckerberg who created LLAMA and then gave it away for free. LLAMA was used to train Deepseek. I want to see what happens to Zuckerberg cause everyone should be questioning why he gave up LLAMA.

The whole purpose of Silicon Valley is to make America number #1 in tech and they failed. Elon was suppose to be the forefront of EVs and China is running that too.

This is what is so funny to me about the h1b conversation. They're claiming these are the "best" of other countries.

Why would an elite in a country like india choose America when they could go to China or an EU country like the Netherlands who are actively investing in tech, education, and its a place where they know their kids won't get murdered in a school shooting? Why would they go to a place where the cost of living can go up dramatically because the leader has decided an ally is now an enemy? Why would they move somewhere where the cost of living is so high, that the money they are making is getting eaten up by rent which the government will allow landlords to keep raising?

The chauvinism from magats and conservatives in general is comparable to north Koreans. Kim stans in NK legitimately believe that they are the true korea and that the rest of the world is a garbage dump. The worldview of conservatives is that immigration is a form of charity and the people being allowed in aren't being brought in as cheap labor or skilled labor. They literally believe that any poor person comes to America, does nothing and gets hooked up with housing and free shyt indefinitely and their quality of life is superior.

That blindness to reality keeps them from understanding that the only thing that america offers these people is more money, but that additional money doesn't matter if it's getting eaten up by the cosf of healthcare, gas, tuition for their kids, rent, and groceries because the government is deporting the workers that keep wages and therefore prices, low.

Donald Trump does not know what he's doing and rather than surrounding himself with experts, he's surrounding himself with sycophants. He has no actual understanding of economics, emotional intelligence or strategy because his whole life he has gotten his way by always having more money than the people he's negotiating with. That doesn't work in democracy, so he's trying to shape America into the same kind of structure as a typical company. What this means is that like a CEO, he would be an authoritarian that decides policies based on what he feels like and cuts entire departments to save money while transferring the savings to the managers and investors.

He's literally doing corporate restructuring except to government employees right now.

I’ve said it before, but if you want to discourage immigrants from coming here, you can’t yell how great America is to them. The reality is it isn’t great.

Tell them about high cost of living, taxes, corruption, etc.

Tell them that $300k means half is gone in taxes and the high cost of living takes care of the rest.

America isn’t bad elite-tier, but very overhyped and absolutely not their own tier.
