So they basically approved the plan, but when you look at the plan, it's a work in progress with a ton of buzz DEI terms and elements that don't have any metrics behind them.

This could be a whole bunch of nothing, but we will see how they intend on implementing this in future months...I guess.

Should be interesting

I was lucky with selective enrollment and got away from Clemente. :francis: Can't agree with getting rid of the opportunity outright. Almost 80% picked somewhere other than the local? Seems like a popular process.
My mom was about to send me to Catholic school if I didn't get into an SE school. My neighborhood school was bad as hell, I had friends from my grade school tell me stories all the time. Frequent fights, kids pulling fire alarm to go out and fight, gangs, drug dogs, metal detectors, clear backpack policy. Some kids I know that went to that school have been in and out of Cook County jail and one kid got stabbed to death on some gang shyt.

You can't learn in that environment. If they get rid of SE schools then people with kids are just going to move out of the city if they can't afford Catholic school.

Are we living in a socialist society now? When has America ever been about equity in scholastic achievement? I'm not talking about race, that's another subject. But not having selective enrollment schools is very counterintuitive of a capitalist, free market society that values competition. We are going to get left behind by the other countries. In the next 20 years we are going to see the adverse affects of fukking up educational funding and the impact of outdated (and unauthentic) curriculums on American society as a whole.

Alders say Mayor Johnson is acting like a "dictator" with his decisions regarding CPS board

He seems phony. I mean I guess that goes with the territory, but I don't get what hard about responding to the questions asked instead of barking about what their perceived angle is.

Deflection tactic.

He pulled a similar maneuver last year when being questioned about gun violence around the city.

Not even trying to hide the fact that he’s a blatant puppet for the teachers union. Meanwhile all their kids go to private school. Johnson is a fukking goofball. Can’t stand him. Everything from his glasses to the fact he 40 with a faux hawk pisses me off. He’s lost the black vote also. I mean the immigration shyt already sealed it but if he gets rid of magnet schools goodbye. And this will only drive more families to the burbs/out of state. I miss the Daley days. These progressives truly don’t know how government works

conservative politics from white flight in the 70s is why you see the shyt that you see now.
