Well, I take that back cause I will say this. You have a higher chance of "saving" kids are at lower performing schools if you send them to schools where there are kids who are higher performers. They see a different more positive environment and it can help change their focus/mentality. But even then it has to be reinforced at the crib.

Many of our people didn't grow up in the best socioeconomic environments and became incredible achievers. And in many of those cases, even if they didn't have, the importance of education was stressed/practiced/reinforced by their parents. Thats where I say it always starts at the crib. And our culture has to do better as well, but that's another topic.

The issue with that is the high performing kids will be in lower numbers

And some bad ass kids will just be bad ass kids, because that’s all they know

Because I think it is entirely fukked up that there is a majority of (Black) kids that were telling you you’re fukked

But kids should have an opportunity at being given a quality education and being safe

And they already have private schools…taking away magnet schools is just telling everyone you have to pay to play

It's being discussed but I've yet to see any evidence this is definitely going to happen. So overreaction - or reacting to Daily Mail articles, which are usually right wing trash - isn't warranted.

My issue with the idea of this is simple. If you do not support selective schools you should have to present a logical, beneficial alternative. The public schools are bad, across the country in many states. Failing grade rates, poor performance, disruption. Problems that just fester because teachers are not held accountable, resources are not appropriated correctly, and administrators don't give a shyt as long as the fed+state money keeps coming in (based on test results that are largely deceptive or incomplete). Who is the winner in this scenario? Until we have a complete rework of our education system we're gonna keep failing, especially black and Hispanic students.

This might be a pie-in-the-sky idea but I don’t know what the proposal looks like. That said, some neighborhoods are just trash and being able to get away for a school day to focus is an excellent escape from their immediate environment.

Unless he can suddenly flood those neighborhood schools with better teachers and safety measures (we know why), this will drag down high achievers. I went to private schools which while not the same thing that allowed me to key in on school without having to worry about who was threatening to beat me up, something I came from with a neighborhood school (Gale Community Academy I see you, bytch) before my mother got me in good schools with funding and teachers who cared.

no-holds barred southers school choice is not the same as major nothern city school choice and you know it.
these are high achieving schools full of black students. without typical teachers union-style talking points, explain why those high achieving schools should be destroyed.
