CPD and the mayor despise each other for variety of reasons. Cook County's prosecutor (and many of the judges) are also part of the old chicago "machine", who also despise mayor lightfoot bc she defeated them in the last election. People who REALLY know what's going on already know this, but what's happening is that CPD and ppl who are aligned with her political opponents (Kim Foxx, Tony Preckwinkle, the old Daley/white ethnic establishment) need crime to become the major issue when Lightfoot is up for reelection. CPD and their allies think that's the ONLY issue that will cause Lightfoot's base to fracture. Lightfoot's base is made up of relatively well off liberals who live in gentrified neighborhoods, Black voters and the "corporate" class - mostly Downtown voters, developers, professionals etc. Crime is the one issue that can cause them to look the other way - and it's starting to work. There are shootouts etc in the "nice" neighborhoods now and even "good intentioned" white people are starting to hold her somewhat responsible. Meanwhile the prosecutors/judges are letting mfers out on bond even with violent records/crimes, refusing to even charge ppl openly caught up in shootouts and emptying jails claiming it's due to covid. CPD is slow walking everything, staying in their cruisers on the corner. Lightfoot has been trying her best to appease the cops by not touching their budget, giving them huge percentage of the COVID relief funds and signing a new labor contract giving them nice raises...but at the end of the day she is still a gay black woman, so they're going to take the money etc and STILL fukk her over by letting crime run wild. It's crazy.

I always wondered how she was able to pull that victory off in the first place.

Was it just general apathy among voters or a changing population in the city(more liberal yuppies replacing old ethnic whites and immigration)?

I do feel like Lori lightfoot gets a lot of unwarranted hate, but What do I know.

Same shyt going on in philly. Not sure if it was posted here but hellcats was doing donuts around police cars in the middle of downtown last week. Cops didn't even put they siren on. nikkas just defeated out there


I think the stragety in some of these cities is let the nikkas kill themselves, making the liberal DAs and mayor look bad, getting them out of there and replaced with more conservative "super predator" focused replacements who will be pro police union
also it's not like you can just replace a police department. bad police stats just equals firing the commissioner and increasing the police budget....which is a win for the union

When I hear about stories that go on out there at first glance it's like damn them nikkas a different breed but then you hear more detail and i know for a fact that kind of shyt wouldn't happened in most cities with a certain type of police force

Any city with major gang influence, where talking to the police could very well lead to a death sentence, that also has a high murder rate will ultimately lead to many unsolved murders.


I would guess that police actually know who's responsible for most murders in these said cities. But being able to prove that in court (EI witnesses) is totally different.

It’s both. Cops are definitely lazy.

But I’ve also observed being on black college campuses out of state that have brought together blacks from all major cities, blacks from Chicago just have a certain aggression that I have not observed even from blacks that came from New York City, Detroit, Philly or Baltimore.

I don’t even know what it is to be honest. And it’s straight up sad because folks just be trying to chill, but Chicago nikkas was behind 80% of the drama on many of these campuses. I’m talking about TSU, Fisk, Lincoln, Lane, Lemoyne-Owen, Rust, Jackson State.
