There is probably a deeper issue here.
It is easy to talk about gun violence and gangs and all that.

But I think Chicago is one of the most segregated major cities in the country. And opportunities are limited for a lot of people.

Fix the economics and you fix the city. Everywhere you have a lot of poor people with no hope and no pathway out, violence follows. It isn't a coincidence that wealthy areas have less crime.

Anyway...
RIP.

Why are we suddenly calling shootings (we know to be street-related), mass shootings? OP wit the cac narrative. Miss me wit that shyt. :mjpls:

No...some ngga seen his OPs, or someone he had issues w/...and started indiscriminately shooting. IMO, a mass shooting is when an individual (be it white, black, asian, etc.) walks into a store, church, business, etc...and attempts to kill everybody in sight, for no rhyme or reason. Quit tryin to put that narrative on black folks, or POC. :mjpls:

Everything you typed is fck boy shyt.. So you have issues with a mfer and shoot up the place? :what: Yeah.. That narrative sounds much cooler..

Narrative is the most overused word on this forum.
7 people got shot. The entire crowd was shot at. Maybe 3 people were the intended targets. Everybody else was an innocent bystander. To them, it's just as random as the recent Colorado shooting.

:huhldup:By Rita? That mile stretch is full of cameras from the CTA terminal, the school and the railyard

Yeah I noticed that too. And it's usually quiet over there once you pass Western. 79th also just had that mass shooting at that funeral home where that gang members had his funeral.

It's crazy to me how most of the violent activity occurs only within a few short blocks if you think about it which is why I don't have a problem traveling down many of these streets late at night.

You go down 79th and by the time you get to Western, Damen really, the neighborhoods get quieter, more middle class city workers, and by the time you get to Kedzie its basically white and you're in the burbs.

Same for 87th, 63rd, 71st. It only be the strips between Halsted and Western, Halsted and Damen really.

You just reminded me of how lucky I was to avoid so much fukkery in the 00s without a car and taking CTA late:wow: The 9, 49, 69 and 79 bus were my best bets and I'd have to walk at least 3 blocks to get home. It was damn near a blessing anytime the 9 would go to 74th from the green line because it wasn't a long walk but them other routes were :lupe: especially in summer

There was a time where cabs refused to even go to the south side (outside of certain areas :mjpls:)because they were so spooked even if you were going to the fukking airport for a guaranteed $30-40 fare

More than economics. There's a mentality that needs addressed that an improved economic environment will not fix. Family breakdown needs addressed as well.

Mass shooting

A mass shooting is an incident involving multiple victims of gun violence. There is no widely accepted definition of the term mass shooting.
I don't like this definition because it doesn't make a distinction between a gun fight, where mulitple perpretrators(not victims) are shooting at each other and getting hurt. Versus One dude shooting random innocent people. It basically just means if multiple get shot it's a mass shooting.
So when army soldiers get injured or killed in battle, they weren't casualties, they were just victims of a mass shooting? nah
Multiple guns were found on the scene, implies this was a gun shootout between multiple aggressors. Doesn't make it any less senseless though
