Why deploy them in Chicago when there are more violent cities in the country?

Try it all over the country, once a city reaches a certain threshold then you bring in the guard.

From what I’ve read the lead based hypothesis is more used to explain the crime rates of the 70’s-90’s and crime rate drops into the 21st century. The country has moved away from lead based petroleum.

I also think the issue is much deeper than lead and even back in those days crime didn’t increase just because of lead. For my city specifically it was the perfect mix of factors that led to the insane murder rates of the 70’s-90’s and I’m sure it was those same factors nationwide.

the effects of lead poisoning have about a 22 year arch before the effects are seen. It’s widely believed that the stark drop in the crime rate in NYC has less to do with policies and being tough on crime, but has a direct correlation to when the NYC health department attacked the lead problem head on.

Look, I hate the violence in this city as much as the next person, but per capita, Chicago is 16th on this list

Not great, and nothing to be proud of, but y'all need to stop falling for this sensational journalism, and stop panicking. This city, by and large, has a black population that wants to do good, and live in, and raise families in, a healthy and safe environment.

People here are falling for the trap that's going around of conflating BLM original purpose, and black on black crime. I've been on this site for years, mostly as a lurker, and this energy has not been prevalent for Chicago, or any other city plagued by violence, until BLM made it to the headlines this year. It's pretty much nothing but concern trolling at this point.

I agree with your premise but you have to look at Chicago on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis. There’s neighborhoods where there is little to no crime and 7-10 neighborhoods that have the brunt of the crime here.

There's a lead water / lead paint argument being floated around that is definitely a fake excuse.
Doubt that a single person here believes that lead water is responsible for the homicide rate in any city.

My point about a relative being hit is that if that day comes, the laundry list of excuses for why the guman fired will be balled up and thrown in the trash.
Nobody here is going to speak to the judge before sentencing and make excuses for the suspect.

That's true, but I guess my response is geared toward calling for the national guard, or people needing to flee the city. It just shows an overall lack of real concern and understanding of the violence in the city. And of those 7-10 neighborhoods, yes, there is a large black population, but there are plenty of other neighborhoods with plenty of black folks that are safe.

Don’t know if you will get negged for this. But I completely agree. Regardless of where you came from adults know better. This type of shyt destroys our children and the hard working families that despite living in the hood live honest hard working lives.
