In addition, most of these southeastern tribes have strongly synthetic histories. The Seminoles were literally made up by a bunch of rag-tag members of dying tribes and runaway slaves. The idea of "tribe purity" here, beyond generational, cultural membership, which all these Black folks have, doesn't really stand up to historical scrutiny. By 1800, the Cherokee already included various mixtures of Scottish, English, German, and Black people.
