When that general came back from measuring around the core with the good dosimeter was hilarious :dead:

General: It wasn't 3 roentgen. It was 15,000.
Shcherbina: :what:

shyt was piff. Just a dreadful situation and the people was oblivious to what was going on.
Seal off the exits. Cut the phone lines. Let them focus on their labor.
:picard:
Eastern Euros are right there with the rest of the West when it comes to science and technology but they have this fukking backwards, grimey ass 19th century ideological ethos that is really disturbing.

yo saw the 2nd episode last night and amazing. that ending:ohlawd:

i read about chernobyl every once in a while because it's fascinating but the details in this show is amazing. they really did a good job capturing the intensity and gravity of the situations and moments. i love HBO. i rarely get this feeling with any other network shows whereas HBO delivers a couple of shows or movies i look forward to watching a couple times a year.

I had no idea how much worse Chernobyl could have been, holy shyt. And those 3 guys that swam in the toxic water, here's 400 rubles and a promotion.... But you'll be dead by the time the check clears and the paperwork goes through for the promotion
Not all heroes wear capes, brehs.

Them cats really saved the world or at least Europe. Had the shyt not been cleared the other 3 reactors wouldnt have blown up and would have flatlined all of Europe and parts of Asia and even possibly middle-east.

And i was listening to the show's podcast and the creator of the show said he wanted to make sure the names were said out loud so that the world would know who stepped up to sacrifice themselves in order to save hundreds of millions of people they didnt even know.

Check out the Chernobyl podcast for real, tho. It's hosted by the creator of the show and he goes into even further details
