They should have just put that firefighter out instead of him having to suffer through that.

With the KGB all around they probably were studying the effects of the exposure to radiation. This is in the Cold War so nukes were still a major thing. Also I don't think ANYONE knew how bad it was. Maybe Boris and the woman physicist. But then again, the KGB were there to silence any type of information getting out.

There cant be a worst way to go :sadcam: Just readint the shyt below about how homie's body deteriorated is physically painful to me reading it

Porter: the sad tale of Chernobyl victim Vasily Ignatenko | The Star

“Every day I met a brand-new person,” she told Ukrainian journalist Svetlana Alexievitch 10 years later. (Her story is captured in Alexievitch’s wounding book, Voices from Chernobyl.)

Lesions broke out on his precious lips and cheeks, and then peeled off in white film. His body turned blue, red, grey-brown. The skin cracked on his arms and legs. Boils swelled into place. His hair fell out in clumps.

“He was producing stool 25 to 30 times a day. With blood and mucus,” she recounted.

“The last two days in the hospital — pieces of his lungs, of his liver, were coming out of his mouth. He was choking on his internal organs. I’d wrap my hand in a bandage and put it in his mouth, take out all that stuff.”

Just listened to the podcast while driving to work. :why:

It's by the show creator/producer himself. Listening to this shyt can be even scarier than the show itself at times even tho it's explaining some of the stuff seen on the show. Mainly when he talks about stuff that they left out of the episode.

My god the acting in this is incredible. I can't believe countries would build nuclear facilities. Its only a matter of time time before this shyt happens again.

What made this one worse than the one in Japan that happened recently?:jbhmm:
You get stats on the miners?

Answer below per the link @Llcoolbay posted
Fukushima’s Dai-ichi is not Chernobyl. Hydrogen explosions and fires have damaged some buildings, but the reactors’ inner cores have not been breached, we’ve been told. The highest reported radiation level in areas accessed by workers is 600 millisieverts, according to the operator. The nuclear plant workers and firemen like Vasily who died of acute radiation syndrome in the weeks after the Chernobyl explosion were blasted with up to 13,400 millisieverts, according to one UN report.

I can't believe countries would build nuclear facilities.

Also, per the washington post, the U.S. tried to cover up their own nuclear disaster too from testing hydrogen bombs. They couldnt cover it up much because the blasts ended up being 2.5 times bigger than anticipated and impacted nearby inhabited islands.
Within hours, the atoll was covered with a fine, white, powder-like substance,” the Marshall Islands health minister would later testify, according to the Atomic Heritage Foundation. “No one knew it was radioactive fallout. The children played in the ‘snow.’ They ate it.
The blast was done in 1954. They didnt finish the clean up until the 80s
Is there really a god that looks after us all? Does he have favorites? :why:
The U.S. put nuclear waste under a dome on a Pacific island. Now it’s cracking open.

Oh yea, the US isn’t any better than the Russians when it comes to its nuclear past. 3 mile island, Bikini Atoll, the Hanford site, just a few examples of their mishandling of nuclear materials. It just shows how ignorant governments were with this stuff but they couldn’t let up as the other side was also developing nuclear products. Plus we had to keep the MAD initiative intact.
