yep. If i'm GT, i'd sho CPJ the door and get Strong in there and give em 5 years. He'd get them right with southern recruits
I think gt tied to cpj for another few years and they don't seem like the type to pay 2 coaches but that's exactly the type of school level he needs to go to.
We'll see what opens up in the next few weeks.
For real if they didn't just hire Richt UM would be a great school for him

I'm really trying to figure out where this entitlement has come from. Has Texas ever really had years where they dominated college football like florida(old ball coach/urban)/fsu (bowden)/bama(bryant/saban)/usc (mckay/robinson/carroll) has? I only know Texas' history back to when Ricky Williams was a freshman and I can only remember when Applewhite and VY were there as times they were in the national landscape for a title.

the entitlement comes from delusion caused by money....they have the most money, so they feel they should be winning ship after ship, no matter if that's reality or not....example of that: the cat you quoted saying they should be winning the conf regularly lol...

and no, i'm not saying strong didnt deserve to be fired....he didnt produce, so i understand....i just havent liked how they did he brotha from the beginning...

The entitlement comes from the fact that many people down here still believe Texas HS football is far and away superior to anywhere else in the country. Reality is many states/regions have caught up to us.

to go along with that: all the talent in texas no longer has to decide texas or out of state now....other schools in texas are legit options now....so texas needs to change it's thinking and improve it's out of state recruiting...

If A&M fires Sumlin and goes after Larry Fedora (College Station native) I wouldn't be mad if we brought Charlie to Chapel Hill.

That'd be a good look for him, 8 wins would be good for them. If he Charlie pulls out a 10 win year, he'd be untouchable in Chapel Hill :ehh:

No they were on his neck because he kept losing to their biggest rival and wasn't wining conference championships. His first conference championship in his career came in 2005.

That too. But I'm speaking in general why people believe Texas should be top 3 every year. "We're Texas" attitude is rooted in HS football and money.

Honestly only TCU is now a legit option. Baylor is about to go back to being Baylor. Houston just lost Herman and you will still have Tech and A&M. I tend to agree with dtown when it comes to Texas players. This state was known for physical football. I dislike this soft spread happy football that has dominates the state now and really has since the late 80s.

i agree, the style of play is a factor, but having other options is too....and i dont think you can dismiss the other schools like that so easily...tcu, a&m, and tech are still there....baylor is committed to football now, all they need is a coach, and they can potential be right back in the mix...and hearman leaving houston is the same story as the previous coaches leaving, and people thinking the school was gonna just fall off....it hasnt yet, and it wont...

A guy named Johnathan Blue who owns a private equity firm and is a member of L'villes board of trustees. He tried to get Strong subpoenaed in his divorce case because he claims his wife cheated on him with Charlie and also gave Charlie gifts (movado watch for example).

Texas's Charlie Strong named in divorce case

Blue is also the university's biggest donor, so he pretty much payed a good amount of Strong's salary.

Blue also owns an agency the reps Sports TV personalities. One of the guys he reps is Bomani Jones, which made things real awkward because Bomani's a huge Texas fan, but couldn't talk about the story when it broke.

Yeah Fedora would be eating lovely off that 11 win season last year but that loss to Baylor left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. It's one thing to lose but Baylor looked like old school Nebraska, them nikkas rushed for like 700 yards in that bowl game. Don't get it twisted though, I want him to stay, it's just a matter of how important the administration views football. It has to be more than just a necessary evil. Charlie would do well here if he came, none of the pressure that existed down in Austin.
