How they still questioning brehs arm strength. If the season wasn't enough ... The game last night tho. :heh:

I was skeptical about breh's arm talent last offseason but damn. I'm never doubting his ability to throw the ball.

the nerds want cats who can flick their wrist and launch the ball 80 yrds like Vick or Allen
yet Manning or Brees didnt have rockets- yet they still got the job done- all that shyt is overrated
can you deliver the ball accurately- is yes- go suit up

you can throw the ball 100 yards but if you have no touch and not accurate- who gives a fukk

Tough loss, sucks my former Lions Slay and Suh didn't get the chip.

I question I have...what's the fanbase and Philly media mindset on the 10th pick? Do you guys do the obvious thing of taking whoever the best d lineman or CB is, or do you say fukk it and take Bijan Robinson? You put him behind that line and he'd be unstoppable, and Hurts would be unstoppable with that RPO option. It would be a wild thing to do which is why I doubt you pull the trigger but man...

first 2 picks have to be best CB (who can play zone/man) and a DT/or Edge

there is no chance in hell Howie drafts Bijan in rd 1- I would be interested in Bijan backup- he is a 6'ft-230 RB with speed and can pass protect
Some of yall called me crazy but I was concerned about Jordan Davis and im still concerned- i hope im wrong but he was a disappointment as the 13th pick
I dont know what to do at LB- I like TJ but in coverage- he is hit or miss and I am concerned about Dean coverage

Just a point about Gannon's scheme and its shortcomings.

The way Howie was able to assemble this roster. We really blew it with Gannon and his scheme.

Don't get me wrong, calling defense in this league is tough. But Gannon had all the pieces to make this into a real all time great defense and not the paper tiger it turned into.

The Patriots defense during those dynasty years were so great cause they could adjust in so many ways to any offense week to week.

They could switch from 3-4 formation to a 4-3 formation to a 46 formation. They could switch from heavy man coverage to heavy zone coverage concepts based on the offense they were presented.

they were masterful in taking away a teams best offensive player if need be week to week.

Or that Seattle Seahawks legion of boom defensive 4-3 hybrid scheme

Again a scheme that has split personalities with 4-3 and 3-4 formations that adjusts based on what the offense presents week to week

Or how about Wade Phillips scheme where stay in 3-4 fronts or 46 fronts and play suffocating man coverage on the back end.

They needed this whole past offseason talking to old Patriot heads or legion of boom era Seahawks heads. Eric Mangini and Kris Richard were around. Wade Philips was available.

Hell even our old DC Jim Schwartz would ve been more useful from that Washburn school.

Consulting with Vic Fangio only, the originator of the five man front:dahell:.

This defense with the names they acquired this season were fully capable of having a similar defense schematically in the off season. We really had the personnel to not be a paper tiger that gets exposed in the biggest game of the year.

Only thing I seen Gannon do imaginative with the roster he was gifted was that five down lineman front to stop the run.

All season I have been watching this guy Gannon's scheme play this off ball mix of man coverage and zone coverage scheme that requires so much communication on the back end where receivers are passed off to the next defender.

Hoping they cover long enough for the pass rush to force the QB to threw into tight windows or earlier than they want. It was executed well at times during the season. The vikings game and other games comes into mind with that.

However it is a scheme that just invites offenses to dink and donk and paper cut you all game. It is not aggressive enough without press coverage to throw timing off.

The tape was out there on us and I started seeing us getting gashed in the run game some weeks and later in the season I see the pass coverage getting exposed.

There were warning signs schematically, The Packers game, the second dallas game and the Saints game where the QB gets the ball out quick or throws in the middle in the soft zone where the defense can't get off the field or they just blow coverage due to communication issues.

There is something that Gannon does schemitically that let's quarterbacks feel entirely too comfortable throwing at us. Andy fukking Dalton went 14 for 14 on us and Dak was way too comfortable and he lit Gannon's scheme of soft coverage and blown assignments up. I had a feeling Rodgers was gonna do that too if he didn't get hurt.

We pay Slay and Bradberry to take away a teams best receiver and not to be talking to Avonte Maddox or Josiah Scott or Marcus epps or CJGJ about where they are supposed to be and who covers who when the ball gets snapped. Ball gets snappedxand coverage is blown pre snap.

is it so hard to stick with one guy and follow him. This passing receivers concept that Gannon employs just got exposed badly in the second half of that game.

I was watching that shyt too many times this season. i literally would be like why are they playing so much off ball during the season. I much rather these dudes get beat over the top than have those communication issues. To me that shyt just invites blown coverages rather than Slay or Bradberry or Maddix whoever is on the left side, right side and slot.

If any game needed strict man coverage principle, it was the superbowl

If there was anytime to play more strict man coverage, it was there against Andy Reid's motion offense with two weeks to prepare for us. Gannon didnt even throw a curve ball in there. Same concept four man rush with rare blitz and weak ass off ball man and zone coverage.

Sick to my stomach on how we lost this and how blew these embarrassment of riches on defense. How we wasted that performance Hurts put on on the biggest stage.

You guys realize we may never get this type of personnel again cause we gotta pay Jalen now and we losing this amount of players to free agency on the defensive side.

I pray the Cardinals hire this guy Gannon and we get a more imaginative defensive coordinator.

I also want a defensive coordinator who are unpredictable, makes the quarterback think and breaks down prediction schemes

The talent of this roster and the soft schedule through the nfc title game covered Gannon.

Rant done.

That’s one of the reasons why despite the curse of the SB loser, we could get back. Our main offensive nucleus is young and will return. The important Batmans, Goedert and Hurts. RB is plug and play in our system anyway so it’ll be Gainwell (who all season I could see were preparing us for him starting next year by all the times he was in for big plays) and somebody else. Jurgens was hand picked by Kelce so he should hopefully be good whether he is replacing him or Isaac at guard.

The defense needs replacements anyway after Gannons scheme was exposed all season. A little more youth in the secondary and D line and we should be straight. I know the popular thing is to talk about the QBs we faced for the sacks but it’s actually moreso what Olines we faced. Having 70 sacks two years in a row is damn near impossible so be prepared for the trolls on that front.

If ARod is leaving the conference, what QBs scare you in the NFC? NFC south has nobody. NFC Central has Goff Cousins and Fields? NFC West has Geno and an injured 7th round pick? NFC East has Dak and we know how that story always ends. We legit have the best one in the conference, so as long as that’s the case we will always be in the conversation.

Sounds like you're on page with what I want for the Lions with our first 1st round pick. Obviously if Will Anderson or Jalen Carter fall you take them. Or Tyree Wilson. And if they're all gone go CB. I'd trade down to 8 or 9 to do it for us. Either way we're talking about three guys who excel at man coverage: Devon Witherspoon, Christian Gonzales, or Joey Porter.

I was gonna ask about Jordan Davis. Is it just a case of him being behind a hall of famer or is he legit struggling?

We need some talent DBs I can see us picking a DB with the 10 pick. I would like to see if there are any free agent LInebackers available. This draft should be all defense. I would like to add one more Lineman in the later rounds.

Jordan Davis got hurt during the season. As soon as he got hurt, our run def suffered, hence us signing Suh & Joseph. He needs to improve his pass rush but he's a bonafide starter in Y2, esp with us running essentially a 5-2.

He wasn’t bad. He got hurt then He got no time til the end of the year after Joseph and Suh were signed, he eventually started cutting into Joseph’s PT. Gannon is like Larry brown as he gave the young bulls like him and Nakobe no PT. Somewhat understandable being that we were making a run, but he has talent.
