Just read up on that:

Basically from a Marlon AMA and stated on a radio interview, In Living Color was close to syndication (reruns on other channels ) and Keenan and his team being performers, writers and exec producers, wouldve gotten 900k an episode.

The deal was coming but Fox network decided to run reruns early on its sister channel FX or would play a repeat when one of their shows would get cancelled.

This diluted and weakened the value of a network buying ILC reruns and Fox news basically sold the reruns to themselves aka FX Network, cutting Keenen and the Wayans associates from a big payday.

Eh, someone had to fill that void because there was clearly still a demand for it. Key & Peele filled it up but let's be honest, they did enough skits that Dave would have never come up with.:yeshrug:

Also, no offense to Dave but Chappelle's Show looked like it was shot on a $5 dollar budget whereas K&P have skits that legit look like professional movie scenes. In production value alone K&P are leagues beyond anything Dave ever did on his show.

I think that was the last straw but it started with Fox trying to censor the show. Tommy Davidson talked about recently for the 25th Anniversary. You have to remember "In Living Color" was like a R-rated "Saturday Night Live" on primetime television.

Did the network start to set more and more boundaries as the show went on?

Every show. Every freaking show. Every episode. It never ended. It was a constant battle. But, the battle was won for us; now TV can do whatever it wants to do because of us. We’re the ones that went out there and really cracked that thing open.
