My post wasn’t directed at that whether he’s funnier now or not. He obviously taken a completely different type approach to his stand up, you can like it or not. My point was to highlight a goofy term that I think undercuts and simplifies constructive criticism.

I think Sticks and Stones showed that he still has his comedic timing and crowd control when he wants
He's always been an edgelord, whether it was "nikka I got kids to feed" or "a hoes uniform" etc.

The problem is simply that when someone says he isn't as funny you ended up with post like the one below attributing criticisms that weren't made.

Can't trust anyone who is

offended by Daves Jokes,
Offended by his religion
Or offended by his practical political views.

But this nikka been a goofy. :manny:

Nah, Dave still got it

He has a blind side with regards to trans issues, but for me that's ok. He's not a social figure. He's not an intellectual. He's a comedian. As long as you remember that and take his insights on social issues with a sprinkling of salt, you'll be fine.

Bumping this to get some HL insights on Chappelle. (Ignore the MAGA title)

I think Dave is insightful and makes valid points, but he does have some takes that I can't help but side-eye. I watched his 10 minute set released yesterday and he touches on Snowden, and Covid in ways that kinda miss the nuance of both sides of the argument. He has this entitlement about touring because someone told him things won't get better until 2022 and he didn't want to wait that long. He fails to realize the effect it would have on the population if everyone had the same sentiment regardless of their job/money. Then he feels slighted because people who stayed in the house and didn't catch Covid admonished him and were indifferent about his health after he caught covid.

It's unintentionally (unconsciously?) a very self-centered way of looking at the world. Thinking about his specials over the last few years, IMO he has become more centered around proving why he's right and the mainstream world is wrong... Reminds me of Corey Holcomb or Patrice O'neal in their sets about women. He definitely isn't a smart-dumb nikka, but I think that sometimes he fails to see the gray and perceives issues as black & white. I think that his views on transgender rights, covid, and other topics just aren't very well thought-out and show a consistent inability to actually take a step back and contemplate how his views play out IRL instead of in the comedy club circuit.

I appreciate the way that he views the world and I've seen enough of his content to know that he is the GOAT (His 3.5 hour throwaway set is better than almost every stand up special I've seen) but I guess when his style shifts from making people laugh -> strong cultural hot takes that are often not as liberal as the times, I feel like he isn't as well-versed as he should be, and comes up with some views that in all likelihood won't stand the test of time.

Interested to hear yalls opinion

Bump for the latest Chappelle shenanigans

Dave Chappelle surprises S.F. crowd with Elon Musk during final Bay Area tour stop
:mjpls:

To those keeping score at home, this is the same path pretty much every popular 'conservative' celebrity takes before coming out as Republican.
I went to his pop up stand up show at midnight after this performance, and when he was asking the crowd for topics to talk about, he would avoid talking about Elon and defended Joe Rogan when someone said he sucks.

But he did detail his convo that he had with Kanye. Basically laughed at him for saying he doesn’t believe in God, and said that Kanye told him on the phone that Jews need to get over the holocaust, among other things

Bored so I quoted all the times @Robbie3000 was in a Chappelle thread on his knees :hhh:
Yeah. i guessed as much due your offense to gay and trans jokes. Dave is not for millennials to be quite honest. A lot of millennials get Dave, but his is talking to nikkas from the 90s so he may come across as offensive to some of ya'll.

Dude's are uber sensitive around here. Like I said earlier, SOME of these millennials are not equipped for Dave's brand of comedy. It's really not for them.

They love to be offended to show how woke they are especially if you make fun of gays, trans or women.

nikkas from the 90s are like ain't nobody above getting roasted. :yeshrug:

If Dave was an elitist, he wouldn’t be living in fukking Yellow Springs, Ohio. :mjlol:

He would be living in Beverly Hills somewhere.

Just like I said, if Dave was an elitist and hated poor people, he would not be living in fukking Ohio. right outside of Dayton of all places? My cousin went to Law School at University of Dayton and he couldn’t wait to get the hell out. Some communities don’t want to turn their town into a run of the mill ugly sprawl type of suburb and more power to them. The town doesn’t even allow chains.

People, for whatever reason want to paint Dave as an ogre, but he is not that that from everything I’ve read and seen about the guy.

All it took was Chappelle partnering up with (another) racist billionaire white supremacist edgelord and seeing Dave shyt on his booing fans for him to realize that
This is a horrible look.
