After a 2nd listen this is a good project, it's something different.

I would like more rapping, but Chance shows that he has range and versatility on this... and he flexes his lyrical muscle on some tracks without sacrificing replay value.

How Great :ohlawd:
Blessings
No Problems
Finish Line
Angels
Mixtape

Are standouts

It's kinda like a spiritual successor to College Dropout :ehh:

I like it but his story always felt fishy to me. :leostare:
Like he just blew up and got all this praise which happens but then I found out his dad is some government official (or something) and thinks started to click a bit. And he's independent. How the hell he get Wayne, Bieber, T-Pain and 2 Chainz on this? These can't be favors. How's he paying these guys?:wtb:

His voice is still annoying at times. He went Jayceon on some of the features, mimicking the featured artist flow but he did his service. None of the tracks are necessarily bad :patrice:but All Night doesn't fit and I don't like D.R.A.M.

And how long he been with Apple? How is this an exclusive free download? :oprahhmm:

But the album is dope, so I'mma keep listening.
He's friends with Bieber, Wayne have been or is a client of Cara Lewis. T-Pain must be willing to do anything with anyone at this point.

Other than that, dude sells out shows it's not as if he can't pay an artist 10k. The industry does not work the way it did in the 90s. People do each other favors, some get fees as points of the sales, some so other people favors etc.

He's released his 2 latest projects as exclusives on Apple. The last one was downloaded 10 million times (edit individual tracks). I don't know why you think that you need a label to sign endorsement deals. I don't even know if labels get people endorsement deals, it's usually cats like Steve Stoute or WME and CAA type of firms.

And what type of pull would a community or HUD dude have in the entertainment industry :what:

He didn't just blow up. After his first mixtape dropped he didn't have much buzz but Childish Gambino took him on tour while he was working on Acid Rap. Bino's manager was working with him and got him connected to TDE, Bronson, and other artists they did shows with. He didn't even have a team until well after the 2nd mixtape. He hired a great management team. You don't need a label for that.

People don't know what to make of him because he actually figured out how to navigate the industry without a major. He just pays out of pocket for videos/recording and eats off touring and merch.

As for paying features, most of them probably did it for free or an exchange where he'll do a verse for them.

His dad's a campaign manager. He has no pull in the music biz.

Most of his career is built on being organic and unsigned. If it comes out that he's been signed this whole time, it would feel like a slap to the face. But it won't be a major blow.
