I think my real point is Woodrow Wilson isn’t seen as a hero to anyone.
Public colleges and universities were tuition free or charged very little until the 1970s.
You do need state implementation but it’d have to be run thru DOE. Is it really a tax if Congress just shifts already existing appropriations?
Also, if forprofits are gonna sue... bring it on

Healthcare IMO is a necessity the government is responsible for providing to its people...Putting your ass through HIGHER EDUCATION is NOT a necessity that is the governments responsibility...Paying your way through college is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY not the tax payers and the governments...Should the government provide assistance programs and encourage it? Absolutely but no free rides regardless if military cuts can pay for it...

Sanitation workers in my city get paid 80k a year to pick up my garbage...Same thing with police, firemen, construction and transportation workers, they WORK and get PAID for their public works...I deserve it because my tax dollars pay for their salaries and that is what we call PRODUCTIVE use of tax dollars...

If you are mentally and physically able to work, feeding, sheltering and seeking higher education is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY not the governments or the tax payers...I fully support programs funded by the state to help people find work and nobody ever said no to programs that help YOU pay for a higher education...These assistance programs have a far higher chance of producing productive citizens than free handouts which is what you want...Simply put, if you're working you're a productive citizen...Plenty of people work and go to school to improve their situation...I did that, my parents nor the state paid for me...I took responsibility for myself and I PAID FOR ME...
If you continue on this path of wealth distribution and free rides for everybody you will continue losing elections...nobody other than far left extremists agrees with your wealth distribution dystopia...The politicians you vote for don't even believe in it because they know its a nonsense pipe dream, they're just pandering to you for your vote...Just like Rethugs pander to racist idiots for their vote...

How true is the idea that tuition was used to counter student activism? Make them work to take away free time all that. I remember a professor saying something along the same lines, but I could have been mistaken.
