Not saying he wasn't. But long term it didn't work because of their ineptitude to strike when the iron was hot and capitalize on his popularity at the right time OR pivot when the time had passed and salvage the guy. It's eerily similar with Reigns.
My analogy for Roman's push has been trying to airplane spoonfeed a baby...they just keep awkwardly spinning the spoon at the fans, always stopping short of actually feeding them. They're trying to force the push but don't have the confidence to commit to it.

WWE has no patience wiwith this shyt. When they see somebody they deem as the next big start they just shoot them straight to the main event when they're not ready. All of the other greats had to through the mid-card, have IC/US Title reigns and shyt like that, while Roman just got tossed in.

A lot of people shyt on The Miz for several years, but he was one of the last guys to progress like this naturally. He started out in a tag team, won the tag belts, broke up with his partner, reinvented himself as a singles competitor, won the midcard belt, continued doing tag team work, won Money in the Bank, became the WWE Champion and main evented WrestleMania.

Roman should have had a similar path which would have made his push more meaningful. Instead, he got injured, won the Royal Rumble a year after breaking the elimination record, and now he's a three-time world champion that's been in the WM main event every year as a singles competitor......with a fourth one on the way. :snoop:

Yes. If they had just kept going full steam ahead and had Roman beat Brock at WM 31, I bet this whole thing would have mostly blown over by now. Or at least been more 50/50 instead of 80/20. Fans would have been forced to accept it sooner and therefore been able to get over it. Instead, they let it drag out for another year.

I was just about to respond to the post below and you said exactly what I was gonna say. :wow:

If they would have said "fukk y'all" and just pulled the trigger against Brock initially he'd probably be better off.

That pause by roman and stuttering for somthin to say just shows how pathetic these new guys are without a script.

They couldnt hang wit the fukkin low card promo wise of the attitude era

Theres a handful of guys wit charisma. None of them are natural maybe thats why the shyt is so trash. Its all robotic the whole show is robotic
Austin just put out a statement last weekend saying that Roman would of shined bright in the Attitude Era. Very odd thing for Austin to say.

Anyone else get the feeling they are rushing this angle with Cena now as opposed to Mania because they are giving Roman a final shot to be "the guy" before they decide he's not worthy of being in that role and move him to the midcard?

I'm wrestling to continue on the Anoaʻi / Samoan legacy, while your legacy starts with and ends with John Cena (Snr / Jnr) :skip:
I'm saying. Roman has way more shyt he could say. If anything Cena was bytchmade and has been in his feelings this whole time looking at his replacement and he finally got to bytch about it on camera. Cena sure did rattle off that "I haven't main evented mania in 5 years" shyt with ease. You keepin track like THAT, buddy? :gucci:

If WWE planned all that, then....what was the point? Roman was embarassed, so he isn't any more over. Cena cut the same worked shoot promo he's been cutting for a min - basically pandering to the smarks who like that kind of thing and his stans - so he isn't really more over. I don't think there's any more intrigue for the match, especially since they killed the segment by sending Tex2Badd out there. So what exactly was gained here beyond some buzz that'll dry up by the time next week's Raw rolls around?

If Jimmy Uso became 'Roman Reigns' instead of Leakee, Roman would be everything they wanted already.
As a weird aside, I was thinking earlier that Roman must have been the "lame" cousin growing up. Like, the one everyone is cool with, but gets roasted at all the family functions because he can't keep up. Jimmy and Jey probably had that heat waiting every time Roman walked in for Thanksgiving. lol

It's interesting to see who ends up with what in these big wrestling families. Roman is an impressive physical specimen, but he doesn't have the charisma or mic skills of the Usos.
