You lot watch too much wrestling.

That flippy floppy shyt and Michael Cole have spoiled it for good now.

Now throw in Bryan Saxton (what a name:mjlol:) being a c00n and you've got all the reasons why I hate WWE.

There was lots of bad wrestling in the 90s but it was entertaining. Todays product is complete drivel

cody cant put the nwa title on himself breh.

but I like that tweet that was posted, and even tho I don't agree with him most of the time, I like @Da King's new schtick.

im assuming that hes done trying to boost corny ass DX.

I agree but he had 3 world titles on the card..

I think the omega match was non-title.

City of Angels :blessed:
we both know he's the biggest star in the indies due to his name recognition from WWE and him being Dusty sons....and his affiliation with the Bullet Club... which he sort of road their coat tails.... unlike Omega and The Bucks, who did it on their own....Cody benefits from the WWE rub and the fact he quit the biggest wrestling company in the world in order to be a indy guy which endears him to the typical smarky smark.... but once you peal off all of that , you realize he's really nothing special..... if anything, I'll give him props for navigating the indy scene well and aligning himself with the right guys.....

:martin: That's exactly my point.

Look at other sons of legends. For the most part, ALMOST all of them fail miserably, especially when they try to recreate their dad's gimmicks.

Yet you have Cody here dying his hair blonde, booking himself to win the title his dad made famous, and you got smarks falling over themselves to root for him.

Not to mention, like you said, he got buzz by linking up with a group that was already hot on the Indies. He basically jumped on their wave and rode it.

Ordinarily, that WOULD get heat from the "smart" audience.. but that audience apparently ain't so smart, because Cody has somehow worked them into believing he's the "little guy" fighting the system from the ground up. When in reality, he was born as wrestling royalty and gets opportunities handed to him that others would never get.

I don't give a fucc what any of you say, that right there is a dude that know how to work his audience and get the bag. The 360 he did with his career in the last couple years has been brazy.

Big fish in a small pond, he was a useless midcarder in the major leagues

Had to be a Goldust mini-me to get any buzz :scust:

ehh. cody is actually surrounded by better talent now than he was in the WWE, so you cant use that 'big fish/small pond' analogy.

the WWE roster was meh when cody was there. he was gone by the time the talent raids kicked in.

:whoa:

dusty did NOT make the NWA title famous.

that belt was famous before dusty Rhodes was even alive.

No, look at Sandow, Swagger, etc. It's a grip of nikkas that the smarks loved an swore they would blow once they left WWE, and they fell flat.

You gotta know how to work the system and the audience, and Cody did. The same audience that prioritizes in ring wrestling and 5-star shyt over EVERYTHING ELSE, Cody worked them into believing he's the top star, even tho he prob never had higher than 3 -star match.

the thing is, cody isn't working the audience. the audience is working themselves on cody's behalf. they know better.

hes just a guy that people always wanted to see succeed. and I think it was you that mentioned how they eat up the fact that he left the WWE to play indie hero.

cody realizes this and milks it for what its worth. gotta respect his hustle tho.

it's pretty amazing how this guy gets a pass from the smarks.... he's not all that in-ring, generic, bland look, mediocre promos, and not much charisma, and has the entitled son syndrome too...he's basically Jeff Jarrett of this generation but because he aligned himself with the bullet club and embraced the indy scene, people pretend he isn't basically Jeff Jarrett of this generation...

in fact, I'd argue that's an insult to Jeff Jarrett....as Jarrett actually was more over with two iterations of his character (the early 90s country music singer heel and the late 90s slapnuts debra attitude era version) than any CAWDY iteration, although i will i did enjoy the broken face dashing character but it was short lived.....

Stardust was played way too goofy, he was super bland and green during the legacy days, Dashing was pretty good but short-lived, and just the generic version of him is pretty forgetable as is this current american nightmare no-last name version of him....

he would be a nobody if he wasn't the son of Dusty.... yet indy smarks have idolized him into being this messiah of all things indy

THIS.

I was telling somebody the other day, that cody Rhodes is basically a likeable jeff jarrett.

and similar to you, I also said that the comparison is a dis-service to jarrett, cuz jarrett reached the top of every promotion he was ever in, except the WWF - and that's only because of steve Austin.
plus, in his early days, jarrett was a way better worker.

Dustin's ability was wasted. At least Cody overachieved.

nah

dustin had the better career still.

book aint closed on cody yet tho.

Anybody who is that impressed with cawdy and the indie scene....please tell me how what they are doing in 2018 is more impressive than ECW going from eastern championship wrestling a regional local Philly bingo parlor show to being on TNN, pay per views, video games, etc... Before the internet even blew up

I’m not sure how a comparison is made with a singular event in 2018 and a series of events between 1993-2000. Unless you want to add in the entire ‘being the elite’ run from the past couple of years. Nationally, ECW averaged 70-75,000 PPV buys in 1999 at their nationwide peak. This is with ECW having been advertised on Monday Night Raw in the past, and having numerous members of their 1999 roster with WWF/WCW exposure. 1999 is in the middle of the attitude era which caused a significant wrestling fan spike. ECW on TNN aired. Their largest crowd was 6,000 for anarchy rulz 1999, and largest gate was $208,000.

Cody vs Kenny Omega drew 6,100 people in April. ROH does have weekly television in many markets and NJPW on AXS exists but far weaker than TNN. All In takes place in a landscape where WWE has been a monopoly for 17 years. TNA had many of the biggest names in history, lost $100 million over 15 years and died. All In is mostly promoted by Being The Elite YouTube show and internet word of mouth. All In drew 11,263 and drew a gate of $458,525. All In did 20,000 iPPV ALONE, not accounting for traditional PPV, and honor club/new japan world subs. Madison Square Garden sold out for an April show. If ECW could have sold out MSG, theyd have done it. I think the answer is clear if youre referring to "impressive".

Will give props to him (and co) for putting this event together with basically what amounts to sheer will and word of mouth.

As far as the Cody the wrestler, I think it’s cool how he bet on himself and created something, but I just hate he still wrestles that soft safe WWE style :mjlol: such delicate wrestling. But hey, he still bet on himself when he could easily be languishing on the WWE roster getting pinned by No Way Jose

Cody has one special attribute....his promo.

Who has better promo abilities than this guy?

And if Corgan's version of NWA becomes a force on the Indy scene b/c of this...then Cody did create a moment.
