I'm a bit confused. What's the issue here? Why should man intervene between a predator and his prey?

The problem isn't the cats, it's us.

You're right that in a natural situation predators/prey need each other, the problem is that we've tipped the scales too much. Too many people who should not be taking care of pets, whether that's because of financial or mental reasons, have tried to or are trying to. These pets end up on the streets and multiply.

Cats are wily creatures and can take care of themselves very well, and we've basically given them paradise by creating a society that has eliminated or banished most animals that could  cats. Dogs are either too tame or too controlled to go after cats, and noone else is really fukking with them (and when they do show up we kill/capture them) except for us.

We can't blame cats for being cats, we can only look at our own culture that adores and promotes owning cats and dogs (and any housepets) for the wrong reasons. And again, humans pointing to cats as a danger to any natural habitat is the ultimate :rudy:

People don't care about what their cats do either. If their cats go out and escape and shyt, they're just like ':wrist: oh he's an OUTSIDE cat! It's fine!' meanwhile its out there wiping out species and fukking feral cats and making babies. It's so demonic friend.

That's exactly it.

People think they're doing their cats a favor by not sterilizing them, and I agree that in a perfect world our cats should be able to enjoy busting nuts just like I do. What people fail to realize is that by doing your cat this favor you've pretty much doomed the dozens of cats that yours might be birthing.

They'll end up being destroyed by rival cats, dying off sickness, not being able to live on their own because their mom deserts them either out of survival or because they got hit by a car etc. Best case scenario is that someone finds the litter and reports it to the asylum (or brings them in) - in which case they'll eiither be killed because they're sick or it's too late to bother socializing them (no time/no staff/no budget) or they'll be put up for auction. In that case you only have to hope that those cats end up with a loving family, not one that has the SAME mindset or are abusive or are only interested in kittens and will dump it as soon as it gains weight etc.

And like you said, all of that and much has ripple effects in every direction.

im just not buyin it that cats are destroying any ecosystems :yeshrug:

why? there are tons of studies and ecological as well as behavioral stuff to prove it. house cats kill more than they eat, are very good killers, and bad owners allow them to commit whatever fuvkery they feel like WITH medical benefits of ownership. And they spread toxoplasma everywhere. cats are demons.

Man, in my old apartment, I used to have a couple mice that somehow got in and would hide before my cat could catch them. My cat would be freaking out over them and would be pacing all over the place.

One day, after I came home from work, I saw a blood trail coming from my bathroom all the way to the front door. It was smeared along the bottom of the wall and parts of the carpet the entire way to where my cat had a little bed right in front of the door.

Walk over to my cat and lift up her bed and see the mouse :dead: underneath. She was laying on it like it was her present and just gave me the :ehh:

Cats are the best.
