Don't forget this:

Toxoplasmosis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

During the first few weeks post-exposure, the infection typically causes a mild flu-like illness or no illness. Thereafter, the parasite rarely causes any symptoms in otherwise healthy adults. However, those with a weakened immune system, such as AIDS patients or pregnant women, may become seriously ill, and it can occasionally be fatal. The parasite can cause encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) and neurologic diseases, and can affect the heart, liver, inner ears, and eyes (chorioretinitis). Recent research has also linked toxoplasmosis with brain cancer, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Schizophrenia.

nikka, who cares about birds & mice ? :what:

:snoop: birds and mice are part of a very delicate ecosystem. Cats are not apart of that ecosystem. If the cats eradicate the population of local birds than the population of insects would rise, which could harm our crops we use for food.

birds and mice can be invasive as well. us humans are also in the mix. mice are very successful overall because of humans. these cats aren't really out in the wild. they're concentrated around humans, and the 'ecosystem' we've created

I'm definitely not sure if I'd call a concrete jungle full of pigeons and rats a "delicate ecosystem"

i wouldn't call a city a delicate ecosystem either but small towns and cities neighboring farmland or forests are another matter.

:manny: it still stands that without them, the rodents would probably be out of control. and then...
