I mean those are the questions that need to be addressed. Is this team comfortable going into the playoffs next year with Granderson, Tex, Cano etc in the lineup...or will they forever stink in October when the pitchers are throwing strikes?

I'd assume Swisher is definitely gone. Its not a small sample for him anymore...he just cant be trusted.

Do you think they've done a good job constructing this team? They are great for the regular season.. mop up on mediocre pitching, etc.. No complaints there.. it all but guarantees that they should be there in October but then...

I dont know tbh. Its hard to bytch about a team that goes to the ALCS...but anyone who watched them throughout the year and especially the playoffs could tell you there was something wrong with the team.

The pitching was pretty much fine.

It comes down to your philosophy basically. Is there a proper balance that needs to be in place to build a successful lineup?...or doe you go by what the computer shakes out with OBP, OPS etc and let it play out and ultimately say it was bad luck. I dont know. But the Yankees were really, really bad this postseason. And my thoughts have basically remained the same over the past 10 years. You know the Yanks will get there....its just a matter if they'll hit when they do. And these super star lineups have failed pretty miserably in October.

Am I Only that thinks that extending players early to save money is coming back to bite front offices. Now players are becoming free agents in 30's so then you have a choice to extend players till well into their 30's or lose stars . Votto, pujols,fielder, mauer,cabrera then cano, etc will be complained about eventually

They knew what they were offering would probably not be enough. If he accepted the hometown discount then fukk it, he IS Pujols after all but they were not going to bend over backwards to get it done and they didn't.

They replaced him and moved on... now one win away from the series.
