its all about championships and this lineup not gonna do that and theres no easy fix

Ok but you need to be in the playoffs to win a ws and despite how the season ended we weren't expected to win the most games in the AL . People picked the tigers and angels and rangers to be equal or better . The thing is you can't build a team that is guaranteed to win in the playoffs it's impossible to predict hitting.
You can build a team that wins in the regular season with goods starting pitching good bullpen . And a solid lineup but who predicts cano goes 3-40 and Jeter breaks his ankle? You can't , all we can do is make sure were there next year

I think we have enough proof to show that over the past 10 years that the way this lineup has been built(a mish mash of power hitters) do tend to struggle against the upper echelon pitching that comes with the postseason.

And by struggling, I mean even making contact. The Yankees werent even doing that. You're not going be able to just take walks, pray the long ball comes and win the WS.

You watch the Cardinals and Giants its like watching a different sport.

I know that. Good pitching does generally beat good hitting....the Yanks werent getting unlucky though either. They looked totally lost. There is something too that other than saying "well that's baseball"

The lineup has some bad flaws that will continue to appear in October

:yeshrug: yes and last year all we needed was one hit . Ok and what Is your solution ? The rangers had a dynamic offense and lost to the cards and giants, and the phillies lost to us with a better rotation . We've had different lineups through the years Matsui, Sheffield , Damon , Giambi , soriano etc some guys hit some guys don't it's a crapshoot . The tigers lineup isn't better than our lineup except for Cabrera and prince yet as usual delmon young beat us .
Maybe try a new hitting coach cause it can't hurt and resign Ichiro with gardy and grandy (if we don't trade him )Other than that you want a team of slap hitters? Cano needs to hit like cano and we go from there he's our best player

49ers..Braves..Celtics
that's exactly what you're saying clown, or else you wouldn't have cherry-picked the last 12 years.

Yawn. I explained to your illiterate ass that post-2001 (i.e. the year the corps had altered) the Yankee philosophy changed in how they went about expanding their payroll much more than any other team and started overspending like crazy.

It's only "cherry-picked" if you are not paying attention and Cashman didn't build the original corps.. Stick did.

I'm not questioning how they built their dynasty in the 90's so why would I include a different philosophy? It wouldn't make sense to do so.

Now, where did I say they should be winning every year? I'll wait while you find me the post. :heh:

its going to be more noticeable when hitters like swisher slump because of their skillset

when they slump they hit below the mendoza line but still walk and hit the occasional homerun which people dont value as much. this happens al the time in the regular season but gets magnified in the playoffs

when a high contact hitter slumps they are still hitting .250 and playing "small ball" which people love

but october young cant be explained :why:

The Yankee strategy is make sure they are in the playoffs contact hitters don't necessarily do that
