Partially because his co-writer was originally convicted of rape (not even wise to include him on the project). Partially because he's married to a white woman so they saw no point in defending him (even if this wasn't said, it was part of the sentiment). That said, three women in my immediate family saw the movie, saw more facebook posts from black women defending him, and most black women I know offline knew nothing about the case (or the movie), so making it out to be a black woman hit job is overblown.
Black feminists told us it was because he and his friend allegedly raped a white woman. So they attacked and destroyed him on those auspices. They need to do the same -- or black women need to get bashed for it.
