What's funny about this is that carribean hispanics do say nikka a lot.
But I notice carribean blacks say it way, way less to nil.

They overcompensating or something?

Yep, that, or being plain racist. My ass is a fair skinned black Jamaican, and I never had the urge to overcompensate on saying that word for recognition. Caribbean Latinos, just go overboard with it and try to be more "black" than anyone else. :smh:

sometimes its exhausting having people still believe Hispanic is a race

yes there are hispanics that are minorities but those are the mestizo, Native, and Black ones.

these white hispanics aint no minorities(there are a good number of them, tho probably not as much as mestizo), they just cacs who speak spanish

and still no just Black latinos should say it
Don't forget the Asian Hispanics.

Let me understand?

Cardi B is a young woman of obvious African descent, who has grown up in NYC
listening to Hot 97, Power 105, mixtapes, Youtube and other sources of music.

Why wouldn't she now use a term so clearly common to NYC Hip Hop culture, and the past
two generations of young New Yorkers?

*Sidenote: Count the number of NYC rap records 1979-1988, prior to to the accepted, national emergence
of NWA/nikkaz Wit Attitude, that prominently used "the n-word" in rhymes? There were some, but not many.

Exactly. I mean, if you are a Black latino, I have no idea why would anyone get mad that you would say it :mjlol:

Because in 2017, people are not only confused about what the terms "Latino" or "Hispanic"
mean, they are just as confused as what the term "Black" means today.

yes they are overcompensating or want to be "down"

In the nonhispanic Caribbean ****** is a slur and not used colloquially

My parents used to yell at me for listening to rap or comedy stand ups because if the muffs use/cursing

Cacs and co say nikka all the time around c00ns and in private etc.

You'll rarely see them say it to strangers and in public unless it's a fight.

I never heard of a PR or Dominican person willingly calling themselves black, unless they're dark-skinned -- but then that just means they're forced to acknowledge they're black like @Hennessypapi because they have no other choice.

That's because PRs and Dominicans have genrally identified by ethnicity and nationality, not by race.

Growing up in NYC, "blacks" were the people with ties to the South, formerly known as
Negro Americans.

Even Jamaicans, Trinidadians and Haitians referred to their country of origin as their primary
identifier in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens.

Historically, the term "black" wasn't even used by "black people" on a mass basis until the 1960s.

For many in the past, "black" was a slur.

That's why we had the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

That's why we had United Negro College Fund

That's why even Marcus Garvey had the Universal Negro Improvement Association.

Interesting and confirms my observations. At ease.
