OP already stated that he’s not a car head and yet y’all showing him these insane cars from the 90’s that most likely has already been molested, and besides that, how is he gonna find a trust worthy reliable mechanic to get him the parts for those old ass cars.
OP, stick to the BRZ since you like it. It’s not fast at all but it’s reliable and you can make it handle like no other. If you want something fast, get a newish Nissan GTR and call it a day. fukk these old ass cars that’s been beat on and probably has rust if it’s not from down south or Cali.

Quality is garbage. But these cars are fast and cheap. And with a budget of only 40K you ain't in the price range of top imports. Especially if you want to also buy mods for the car afterward.90s German he'll be paying a lot in repairs though. Gotta know what you doing with those. Nice ass cars though, I love 80s
Q50 is a damn good bang for buck, especially if you get the Red Sport with 400hp. Couple mods put you at 500 and you get AWD. I can help shake the cheapness of em though, guess that's what happens when you compare them with BMW/Mercedes. If I didn't have a choice, I wouldn't mind a Q50

You can never go wrong with lexus. SC300/SC400, IS 300 (which also has a NA 2jz), RC F, and LS. No major problems as long as they've been properly maintained.Nevermind

Parts will be kinda expensive but you should be able to find aftermarket options. You can buy a lexus cheap but keep in mind, they're still luxury cars. So make sure you check the maintenance records cause the previous owner(s) might not have had the money to pay for parts.

Since your budget is 40k the cars I would recommend is the Acura TLX, Lexus IS300, Infiniti Q50, Honda Civic Type-R, Mazda Miata and Nissan 370Z (the 400Z is suppose to come out this year, but it'll be over 40k). If you don't mind Korean cars, then there's the Hyundai Veloster N, Kia Stinger and the Genesis G70 (think of it as an Kia Stinger, but with an more Luxury look).

And way cheaper cause it doesn't have the same fast and furious hype
They also made the sc400 which has a v8 instead of a straight 6

They didn't go for jdm cos it had that luxurious vibe to it yet. Euros were the today jdm's hype back in the days. JDMs hype didn't blow up until the early 2000 thanks to fast and the furious, initial d and 12 year old supra fan boys.
