The winning streak Marvel been on right (an 11 years 20+ movies streak not 2 years 2 movies) now is crazy. They weaker movies are equivalent to their comps best:frank2:
That's the same argument all the white girls were making Like I said I can't wait for the moment when all these women start writing op-ed pieces about how this movie is more historically significant than Black Panther, then I want ya'll to keep that same energy for this film
Idgaf about no thesis papers nikka it’s a superhero movie
As long as I see some fighting and fun stories wtf do it matter...plus wasn’t the strongest girl for a long time black widow? And scarlet witch been mediocre even though her powers might be the strongest
They gone need everything to beat Thanos in two months and marvel got my money to make thatvshyt lit
Plus they can easily say the time traveling they are about to do affected the entire timeline already or will change the timeline maybe it’s all complicated but I wouldn’t make too much of a fuss over it
and these idiots have the gall to call everyone else "snowflakes" when they're writing thesis papers and scouring every corner the net bytching just like they used make fun of feminists for. The lack of awareness is just insane to me
Between the 1940's to the 1990's.... PLEASE EXPLAIN how in this in film they acquired it, why they sought for it and how'd they knew where it was located? Don't SPECULATE. EXPLAIN from what exactly the film said.
If you can. If you going to base it off assumption, it is a PLOT HOLE.. and a true plot hole because it is essentially the MAIN PLOT.

But you care about making some do nothing cacs mad? I've been said that my main issue is them making a boring unpopular character the new face of the MCU, but I ain't teaming up with a bunch of beckys who are no better than their male counterparts. As for Scarlet Witch she wouldn't have gotten this much backlash because at least she's established.

Carol is just as established as Scarlet Witch. It's just that her run as Captain Marvel hasn't set the world on fire. They made her boring. She was more interesting when she was Ms. Marvel.
Saw it. It was ok. 5/10 or 6/10. First half is boring as hell. Second half (or last 50 minutes) is lit. I still can't see Brie Larson leading the MCU though. Think it will fall flat with her at charge. Wonder Woman was better and I think this movie will be forgotten in 2/3 weeks. Heres to Endgame. Hopefully she aint in it as much
This movie was a lot of fun. I think Marvel purposefully held back in the trailers, which I totally applaud because I know they have trouble doing that. Here it paid off. There were some reveals and scenes that would have been totally ruined if they had over marketed.
I think Brie did a pretty good job as Captain Marvel but Samuel Jackson definitely upped her game. Their chemistry was fantastic, and I think she's really lucky that he was there because her chemistry with everyone else was hit or miss. I really enjoyed Lashana Lynch and Samuel Jackson together as well and honesty, it was nice to see a black female get some shine like that. The chemistry between SLJ and Lynch was great too. It might just be SLJ. He's charismatic and funny in this in a way we haven't really seen before in a Marvel film. I really enjoyed Jude Law too, especially in the beginning and the way him and Brie worked together was intriguing and had me rooting for them, which is why
the twist of him being bad was so compelling. I know some people didn't really dig it but I thought it was a great twist and I also think it was super symbolic of some current events. Does anyone see parallels between the Cree and Skrulls storyline and Palestine and Israel? Where one group is shaping the narrative about who is a terrorist and who should be uprooted from their home? This felt like major symbolism of that to me. I also think it's kinda subversive to have the strong white male lead who showed Brie "the ropes" to turn out to be the villain who is manipulative and just wanted to use her for his own ends. Which is why her final shot "I don't have to prove anything to you" was so satisfying.
I think the relationships with Fury and Rambeau are really the glue that holds this story together because they're also key to Carol's character development. I do agree with some of the criticism that there isn't enough time or weight given to the Danvers/Rambeau relationship so that some of the emotional beats feel a little forced. But for me, the acting was good enough to keep me engaged and invested. I also agree with the critics in regards to the final fights. They really weren't that great or even fun to watch. It's like the first 2/3rds of the film were really interesting and fun, and then when she finally goes off, she's just doing by the numbers stuff. This is made even worse by the ridiculously corny and over the top musical choice of "I'm Just a Girl" by Stefani/No Doubt. I'm all about female empowerment but come on, that shyt was so wack. It reminded me of that dumb Aquaman music. Whoever does music for these superhero films needs to chill and understand less is more.
But after all of that, I thought the ending wrap up and post credits scenes were good enough to leave me feeling satisfied with this first installment and where they're taking it. The CGI on the de-aging was really fantastic to the point where you just forget about it, which is a compliment. There's just one other complaint I have
What the fukk is up with the tesseract? They're messing with timelines and continuity and I really wish they had left that alone, but maybe it's a set up for endgame? If its not, that was kinda dumb.
So I'd give this an 8 out of 10 for an origin story.
And on another note:
Does anyone remember all of the hype and excitement for Dr. Strange before he was officially introduced. People said he was so powerful he was going to change the game. There was literally no backlash at all to how powerful he was and he hadn't even been introduced yet, they were just teasing that his movie was coming. I would put Captain Marvel on the same level as Dr. Strange, which is why the backlash to her juxtaposed to the excitement over Dr. Strange is rather telling.
Its not like I hated or didnt like this, it was just meh. Coming after BP, Avengers, and Aquaman this felt so underwhelming. It generally didnt keep me entertained throughout. Felt like a phase 1 movie, and not a great one. And the mid credit scene was just...ok...I do think this might be my fave
stan lee spot
All that being said, I tend to like the characters i grew up reading or still read and she isnt one. Overall, i give this 3 out of 6 stones..
