Marvel wanted Spider-Man back years before that. This didn't start within the last year or so.

Fred.
They never tried to get his movie rights back they just got his animated and merch rights

Its right there in the Sony leaks. They had no clue what to do with the Spider-Man franchise and they saw all the spidey returning to marvel rumors and ran with it.

Yeah, they tried to put the Osborn building from the Amazing Spider-man series in the first Avengers movie the two companies always had a friendly relationship because Disney has the merchandise rights for Spidey. That's another reason why the deal for co-ownership happened that easily.

Breh, I'm aware of the Sony leaks. Sony had no idea what to do after 5 movies.

I'm saying Marvel ideally would've never given up Spider-Man in the first place, 16+ or so years ago. They always wanted him for their cinematic universe. I'm sure they'd prefer to have the X-Men, too.

Fred.
