Breh, a lot has changed over the past 20 years. I don't give a shyt about these stan wars either but what's fair is fair. Spider-Man and X-Men were the A-list twenty years ago. Marvel Studios had no choice but to push the Avengers to the front obviously because they don't own the rights to the others.

Things change. 50 years ago baseball was the #1 sport in the country. Now it's football by a wide margin. Baseball might be #3.

Batman is still probably the #1 in all of comics but Superman had been handled poorly for years so the character took a hit. Man of Steel was a good start, they hope that this next one will recapture what Superman was.

The first batch of Spider-Man movies made a killing. X-Men is still doing well. Sony pretty much botched the reboot of Spider-Man but through all of that Marvel and later Marvel/Disney have been selling more Avengers toys, more Avengers everything. They make how many Avengers comics now? Avengers are the focal point of their entire comic universe. They've made it a point to market their A-listers (not so much Spider-Man but definitely X-Men) far less than ever before. They've also marketed Guardians of the Galaxy like crazy.

You combine Downey Jr. with Disney marketing and the fact that a character like Wolverine is no longer an A-lister to them.. and this is what you have. Avengers ARE their A-listers now outside of Spidey. You are making comparisons that would have been valid 20 years ago but they no longer are. Iron Man is an A-lister now through tons of marketing and through Downey Jr. playing the role to perfection.
I don't know what the origin of this argument is or the point your trying to make but . . .

The cipher is complete.

Ironman is icon status akin to Batman and Superman. How did that happen? Magical movie making.

There's a few threads on here about Man of Steel that sonned the haters so no point in getting into that again

This selective memory ass shyt right here. :deadmanny:

but I do think it's funny how you say DC is reliant on Batman but yet Marvel has never had a film crack a billy without Downey Jr. so...

Marvel Studios never had a movie struggle to make barely $10 million worldwide though. :sas2:

215 Uptown!
I don't give a fukk about all that stan shyt breh. As I said before I'm watching all these movies.

As far as RDJ....listen, I don't care if they got Jesus to play Ironman, there is no fukking way any comic fan 20 years ago would even entertain the thought that a B-C tier Marvel team like The Avengers....let alone a Z tier team like Guardians Of The Galaxy....would be remotely in the ball park of Superman or Batman, from any angle. With or without Disney.

Which is the problem with these DC vs Marvel comparisons. DC fans don't seem to realize they're comparing the most popular characters DC has, to second rate Marvel characters.

Fred.

Jonah Hex (2010) - Box Office Mojo

Marvel was involved with pieces of shyt like Elektra before they started making their own movies. Heavily involved. Go read up on it. This Snyder team that's been assembled had nothing to do with Jonah Hex.

LOL saw this thread on reddit about why a black panther movie wouldn't work.
Why a straightforward Black Panther movie will not work, and how I think a Black Panther movie CAN work • /r/Marvel
One parts that caught my eye
It is as if, in the course of creating a Black superhero, they made sure that he had NONE of any negative connotations people could have about Black or African people.
:dwillhuh:

'Challa is shown returning to his tribe. Wakanda here is not a technologically advanced country, or even a rich one. It is situated in a hidden valley in, say the Kilimanjaro range, and the tribe lives in harmony with nature, content in their role as protectors of the vibranium veins.
:dwillhuh:

Some of the escaped Wakandans are planning to retake the tribe, and are couting their arsenal of modern weapons that they have managed to steal from the invaders.
:dwillhuh:

  1. A technologically advanced African nation that keeps its tribal heritage feels a little jarring. Keeping Wakanda tribal in the beginning helps manage expectations.
:dwillhuh:

  1. The entire script could (should) also be changed to have Shuri as the Black Panther and either remove T'Challa altogether, write him off as a deceased older brother, or replace S'yan's role with T'Challa (which would likely cause riots among fans). The Avengers is pretty weak on female characters, and Shuri can be a good addition. Also, Lupita Ngong'o. Like, REALLY.
I would love to see shuri get a big role in the future but taking out T'challa tho :dwillhuh:

Reading the rest tho I was wonder if OP not read the comics and try to make Black Panther another blaxploitation? :dwillhuh:

But this post came in and went hard
As a black male, a HUGE Black Panther fan (I've read all things with him in it, series, one shots etc.), and someone who can't wait to see a black hero on the big screen that could be successful since the first Blade, this whole idea of yours makes me upset. As stated by people already your movie idea is cliche at best and low key racist (intentionally or not) at worst.

While no one can deny Black Panther isn't a Mary Sue, that same argument can be used for Iron Man, Batman, Captain America and a hell of a lot more comic characters in existence. Yet, no successful attempts to change their fundamental stories or abilities were brought to the big screen.

So the only reason you would change such things for Black Panther is because well...he's black. And African at that, and "Lord knows that can't be possible. That's too unrealistic. Now let's make an 8th movie about a white billionaire who mastered every martial art, and science, and police skill before he was 35."

A movie with black panther will have issues of racism in it no matter what because in the real world, the idea of a strong, politically independent, super power, African country is scary to a LOT Of people. But that's ok, because conflict, and pressure can be built from that without the movie itself BEING racist.

Your idea of another small, technologically inefficient, one with nature, don't know the outside world "White man scary", BROKE AFRICAN COUNTRY, idea is just hurtful. It's hurtful to the rich history of the character, and to people like me who love movies, love comics, but would really really like to see a face like mine be strong, amazing, super, and a positive image for those who basically have none.

TL;DR - Black Panther can be an interesting character without removing all the things that white Hollywood might think is too unrealistic to pitch simply because he's a strong Black African man.

Why are people even comparing this to the BVS trailer?

This is the first trailer while the BvS was the second trailer
Because the civil war trailer wasn't even on par with "do you bleed" trailer, let alone the "red capes" one:francis:
