Terrible comparison.

Superman (aside from Batman) is hands down the most popular character DC owns. Ironman (and hell, let's be real, The Avengers as a whole) are at best B-C tier.

The fact that we're even comparing the two as equals is insane.

I don't think you dudes realize that. 20 years ago when I was reading comics if you would've told me an Ironman movie was going to do anywhere near a Superman or Batman movie, I would've laughed in your face.

Fred.

How about more girls knowing who Groot is over Wonder Woman, or there even being an Ant-Man film?

@TonyStarks

I saw that Kimmel interview with RDJ and Chris Evans. RDJ basically robbing Marvel/Disney making all that money. "Saying once the mask is closed", it's no longer him. Dude working a part time job, while my boy Chris Evans putting in overtime making likle scratch.
:russ:

As long as the movie is good I may give him the pass. :manny:

And Marvel booked RDJ when he was still on the black ball list. They could've had him at a fraction of what Chris Evans & Scarlet Johannsen are getting.

They got less than that tho. I think Evans was 200K for Cap 1 and he prob got more than that as Torch lol. RDJ pulling in $50M for these jawns now

I heard RDJ was influential in getting his other Avengers castmates an increase in salaries after the first Avengers movies did so well.

If they negotiate their next contracts they'll be paid much more since Kevin Feigi reports to one person now and not the other dude that was being cheap with budget on movies and the actors.

20 years ago Marvel wasn't owned by Disney. That fact alone changes a lot. Downey Jr. also changes things. The Iron Man series is far and away the highest grossing solo character in comparison to Hulk, Thor and even Cap. If you don't think Downey carried the franchise to where it's at then we are definitely going to disagree. Downey is making $50M+ off these Avengers movies. He's not easily replaceable at all. He's actually worth the money.

Also, I'm pretty sure it was the Marvel stans in here that kept bringing up DC but they can't take it when they are challenged. they have no retort to anything other than calling someone else a stan when in fact I am one of the biggest supporters of the MCU in here. I loved Winter Soldier. I loved Guardians of the Galaxy. I liked Ant-Man. I thought Age of Ultron was terrible.

Marvel stans should revalluate their lives. I own MORE Marvel comics than I do DC. :russ:

Actually its not the Marvel stans that keep bringing up DC in here. Its straight up the DC stans.... case in point aint no one doing that shyt the WW or Legends of Tommorrow threads. DC stans be a little insecure but try to project that on Marvel because they cant take it when they are challenged.

I don't give a fukk about all that stan shyt breh. As I said before I'm watching all these movies.

As far as RDJ....listen, I don't care if they got Jesus to play Ironman, there is no fukking way any comic fan 20 years ago would even entertain the thought that a B-C tier Marvel team like The Avengers....let alone a Z tier team like Guardians Of The Galaxy....would be remotely in the ball park of Superman or Batman, from any angle. With or without Disney.

Which is the problem with these DC vs Marvel comparisons. DC fans don't seem to realize they're comparing the most popular characters DC has, to second rate Marvel characters.

Breh I knew the game done changed when, the day after "The Avengers" dropped, everyone was talking about Thanos. I mean everybody, from hood dudes to suburban soccer moms.

There is no reason anybody outside of comic nerds should know who that is. Again, 20 years ago if you would've told me Thanos would be a subject of pop culture I would've thought you were out of your fukking mind.

Breh, a lot has changed over the past 20 years. I don't give a shyt about these stan wars either but what's fair is fair. Spider-Man and X-Men were the A-list twenty years ago. Marvel Studios had no choice but to push the Avengers to the front obviously because they don't own the rights to the others.

Things change. 50 years ago baseball was the #1 sport in the country. Now it's football by a wide margin. Baseball might be #3.

Batman is still probably the #1 in all of comics but Superman had been handled poorly for years so the character took a hit. Man of Steel was a good start, they hope that this next one will recapture what Superman was.

The first batch of Spider-Man movies made a killing. X-Men is still doing well. Sony pretty much botched the reboot of Spider-Man but through all of that Marvel and later Marvel/Disney have been selling more Avengers toys, more Avengers everything. They make how many Avengers comics now? Avengers are the focal point of their entire comic universe. They've made it a point to market their A-listers (not so much Spider-Man but definitely X-Men) far less than ever before. They've also marketed Guardians of the Galaxy like crazy.

You combine Downey Jr. with Disney marketing and the fact that a character like Wolverine is no longer an A-lister to them.. and this is what you have. Avengers ARE their A-listers now outside of Spidey. You are making comparisons that would have been valid 20 years ago but they no longer are. Iron Man is an A-lister now through tons of marketing and through Downey Jr. playing the role to perfection.
