Haven't you been trying to break into IT? I would take the alarm tech job. It might led to a career working in the internet of things.

Unless they're really old, cameras, NVRs, access control systems, alarms, medical devices, etc. are more than likely connected to a network.

You can really get exposure to technical work that can't be outsourced or automated any time soon.

As a matter of fact my IT certifications was one of the main reasons why they wanted to hire me.
I didn't see the correlation between IT and alarm tech

Yeah but what mobility do you have? It sounds like an industry you get stuck into for 30 years then retire.

Low voltage is everywhere in every industry. Residential, Commercial, Industrial. Plenty of companies and work to job hope.

You can get your A&P, and move into management or QA, but you're right compared to low voltage there's not a lot of options to move up in aircraft work
