And I'll say IDRIS IS STILL THE BIGGER DRAW RUGHT NOW
I know coli isn't the outside world but based off this thread we have more people that would have seen this movie if IDRIS was in it but we will find out Monday when numbers drop

I'll be going to see either looper or taken :win:

Idris needed this role imo. Would have been his coming out party as a lead actor in mainstream hollywood. Obviously he was born for the role and would've killed it, anyone who has ever seen him in "Luther" knows what i'm talking about.

Not to mention he'd have the female fan base on lock and obviously black folks in general would support it. He aint no polarzing figure like Perry in which for every female there's a dude who wouldn't watch any of his bullshyt. Idris is univerisally liked.

that ceo was talkin outta his ass with that "perry is a phenomenon" bullshyt. hollywood has a history of screwing over young/up and coming black actors (actual actors) in favor of rappers for "shock value" as opposed to substance, hence deliberately ruining any chance of building new black (mainstream) actors who could replace Denzel and Will Smith as new hollywood stars. Kickin out Idris for Perry isn't much different and the excuse that Perry is on some "Will Smith" level that you can't pass up is straight laughable.

I have a fairly healthy distaste for him b/c most of his catalog is :trash:. I do respect his hustle though and every once in a blue moon he'll put out a 'decent' movie.

If he shuts down the minstrel show (or at least slows it down) after appearing in a real movie I'll prolly watch more of his stuff. :merchant:

on one hand, i dont ever want to wish for a mainstream movie with a black male in a leading role to do poorly

on the other hand... the behind the scenes fukkery with Idris has me like :rudy: :wtb::birdman:

Bruh, shut the fukk up. You don't know shyt but what you like personally
Tyler Perry is BEYOND Will Smith in 2012/13
What the fukk has Will Smith done recently? TP is doing movies and TV and getting ALL THE MONEY
Oh wait, didn't mention broadway plays.. fukka broadway, he brings broadway across the country. Broadway was special in the 1960's
Tyler said I'll bring Broadway to your town, just give up the bread

So after all the movies he makes, stuff he does. Produces, directs, stars
You hate the guy, but that doesn't mean he's not doing all this shyt I just mentioned. Bad Boys was a loooooong time ago.
Jaden Smith >>> Will Smith currently

I liked the earlier James Patterson books, and saw the Morgan Freeman ones back in 97 and 2000, but this looks like trash, the trailer I saw in the theater was almost satire, it was so broad, no way I'll see this.

So a guy who made more movies in drag than as a man?

Not to sound tropey but Denzel is at an age now where he could have played an incredible Alex Cross

I disagree. Denzel is over 50 now. Although Alex's age is never mentioned, he is definitely not that old. IMO Morgan Freeman was way too old for that role too.

Yeah but he would be younger than Morgan Freeman

And a little older than this clown

That's the age I pictured him in the books at least.
Dude has a long history and Tyler perry doesn't look like he did a day of it. Unless this is like an origin story. But its not

Hell I rather had Martin or Chris Tucker in this role..
Its some comedians you can take serious when they are in a serious role but Tylisha Perry ist really a comedian and would never take him serious...Hell they could of got Don Cheadle, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Morris Chestnut but Hollywood dont take chances when it comes to black actors. They go for the money drawers.

However made this movie took the easy route and got Tyler Perry because of his "Star power" and he was probably cheaper too. So the people who are going to see this movie are black women, men who got dragged to see it because of their significant other, and white people. They wont even put much effort in to the story because theres no need to.
