One thing I'll say in regards to those that always bringing up that disaster battle and it not a diss. But I feel like Bis knew what was coming down the line along time ago. What I mean Is he has a line on this song called Bis vs RIP, where he basically says "Ain't no best when there's always going to be someone that appears with some better shyt" (it's not verbatim).

I got to hear that. I bet Killah Priest washed all them. He's my favorite though I got to keep it real that does seem like a cool and almost random rap group LOL.
Ras Kass, K.P. and Bis. Kurupt is kurupt sometime hes passionate about it and other times you can tell. I remember it being said Chino XL and Tragedy were unofficial members as well. Dont know if you're aware but I feel like Bis could've got some of the guys from this group Paranoid Chillin he had back in the Canibus Central days. There was a guy called Presto in the group who basically was like Canibus on Steroids, heavy with the bars over the top deep bars.

One of the most disappointing nights I remember lol. I was so hyped for this. Then he pulled that notepad mess. And to make it worst this was the same night the Air Yeezy 2s dropped and I took a L on those.

shyt was insane...hurt me as a stanibus but don't get the homie's fraud comments in regards to it

I get it. He is supposed to be a real emcee and rapper. No real emcee would pull out a note pad during a battle it's supposed to be all in your head already or you freestyle on the spot.

i get that, he should have memorized but I wouldn't call him a fraud. Fraud is :heh:, bis just came unprepared, or under estimated this battle rapping.

said this in another thread, but battle rapping in the 2010's is not the same battle rapping bis came up in

I get that and I get why you are a fan of his but be real breh. Even back then if a rapper pulled out a notepad it would look awful for him.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
its just unfortunate, as a guy who wanted to rap back in the day canibus on those mixtapes and files that i downloaded off kazaa (lol) were golden for me.

but to be honest even his 2nd effort was just ok. the truth is although he was probably one of the best mcs of that era, it really just wasnt a place for him in the music industry that was beginning to get more into platinum single thing and how do you market him to a mainstream audience that really didnt care about lyrics?if he was white like eminem he sells multi plat

if canibus came out today he would be a millionaire with freestyles of his likely going viral and him being able to move himself independently but the independent game was so dead back in canibus time especially as the internet began to come in.
Nah. U can’t use “the industry didn’t care about lyrics” excuse for Canibus. Dude just underwhelmed at the height of his fame and never bounced back from it. All them dope freestyles and verses don’t mean shyt if ya music ain’t hittin. He didn’t know how to balance lyrics with dope music. Then he got all scientific and mathematical and was rapping about nothing really, lol

being not relatable, a loser is why his career fizzled true story

industry didn't do shyt to him, matter fact he was highly assisted and valued for the type of music he made not even nikkaz like Big L or anyone else ever got on just on pure spitting. Granted he had that run of killer features to build a buzz on.

Canibus failed to connect on a real human level and would go on to be symbolic of a lot of rappers that couldn't bridge the gap between being dope and having dope relateable content

his debut album failed to live up to his huge hype and the follow up did too even though it was marginally better it showed that he wasn't a main stay. BUT true hollywood stories was the end of his above ground exposure. he went out terribly on that album. weirdo status on all levels. in an alternate universe if Canibus bodied Eminem he would have had a great career. he not only failed he didn't show up. he became stan... nobody wanted to be near dude for a while after that

You might want to re read my post. That's exactly what I'm saying. Which is why I started that paragraph with even his 2nd album was just ok. His only pitch was the fact he was a great lyricist but he offered nothing else. Back when he was trying to get on master p was running shyt, then Jay then x, etc lyricism was on the back burner. So how do you market a guy who only strength is lyricism when he cant do anything else? That was the point of my post.
