I'm still not convinced Canelo deserved the W he did against Lara. At the very least the judging was inconsistent as neither one impressed me that night. The Trout fight could have went either way. Floyd made Canelo looked like an amateur and to be fair Floyd has done that to most fighters. I get the feeling at times though that Canelo's star power has more to do with obvious potential, and the fact that he's a white, gingered, and good looking young Mexican. I don't dislike him at all, and hope he truly does come into his own, but he's still yet to prove himself.

ODH on the other hand is a repugnant individual to me.

He's grudgingly deserving to be on the bottom half of the P4P at this point. While other fighters can hold on to their P4P standing purely off their skill, 'Nelo deserves to be on the P4P list for who he has faced and how he has fared. We can argue all day about the Lara and Trout fights, but its indicative to me that they were really close as opposed to being robberies.

People didn't think he would fight either of them, and they worked out both ways for Saul. They exposed limitations in his skills (+ gave us a more clear idea of his ceiling which is a little underwhelming imo) but he also demonstrated the ability to at least remain competitive in fights where he has to go against the boxing style that gives him a LOT of fits.

For what its worth, I also think he's shown a lot of growth since getting dominated by Mayweather, too-- the post-Mayweather boxer is not the same kid we used to see pre-Trout.

He looked great against the two fighters he was supposed to dominate, and I believe the Floyd fight also helped Canelo better prepare for the Lara fight.

Saul got obvious limitations, but he deserves his props. He never tried taking the easy way to boxing recognition.:manny:

Who knows what he may turn into in the future. Throw him in with a new trainer, and have him take Ariza shakes daily and he'd be an animal probably.

I got Cotto at 8 and Canelo at nine.

I just can't see anyone from 160 to 147 beating him. He's got the total package physically and mentally and his skills are remarkable for a kid so young. Cotto and GGG are his only main oppositions at the moment and his November fight with Cotto (one I think he'll lose) will tell us a lot more than the Lara bout did.

Uh in what shape form or fashion? He's fought Angulo, Lara and 18 months off Kirkland since Mayweather.

Not hating on Canelo but the questions must be asked

The way I see it is in 2015, any undersized opponent is automatically catching the Salka treatment against Canelo. We're not seeing them take a knee due to get overwhelmed with flurries, you'll see them get sent straight to the bushes on some Kirkland shyt.

Don't get me wrong, Canelo still possesses a lot of the same struggles like his inability to cut off the ring or tendency to plod forward, but the experience has finally begun to go hand in hand with his skillset to make him a more legitimate threat in my eyes.

He's handling himself with more finesse, and even when he was getting pummeled by Lara early on in their fight, he had him on his skates by round 12. Think about that, the Canelo that barely edged by Trout forced the superior boxer in Lara to fight a damn near flawless fight to even think about a chance at a decision W. His P4P standing is murky because of the controversy surrounding his decisions, but he holds those W's.:yeshrug:

I haven't made a P4P list, but off the top it seems obvious that Canelo is bottom half worthy. It seems like he'll be facing GGG soon enough, but I'd really love to see him stay at 154 and clean out the division.

Gotta go with Cotto by a close decision. If Cotto decides to stand and trade then it'll be Canelo winning by tko/ko by about round 5/6. I've seen Canelo improve since the Mayweather fight though. He did the same move that Mayweather does at 2:08 below in his fight with Kirkland.
