So how do y'all think is gonna go and why? Breakdowns please @Cole Cash @Yuzo
I think Canelo is gonna have a hell of a time getting past the Cotto jab and left hook. I think since the Floyd fight Canelo has been trying to fight 'more like' Floyd, or use some of the tricks that got used on him. I think Cotto is too experienced for that shyt to work. I do also think Canelo will bank the late rounds, but will be too far down for it to matter. Likewise, the Canelo body punching will make it tough for Cotto in the later rounds. However, I think the cinnamon stamina will rear its ugly head and Cotto wins a close fight. 8-4 or 7-5 Cotto, don't think there will be any knockdowns, and if there is one it'll come from a body punch.

YUP!

Cotto to me is just more versatile. When you look at what Canelo brings to the table (Size / Youth) that seems like that's all people are relying on along with the assumption that Cotto is a beaten up fighter already. The two things Canelo needs to do to have success is cut the ring off on Cotto constantly and throw at a high volume. We all know Canelo isn't either of those things, he's a Boxer puncher but VERY flat footed. He has speed when throwing combos, but Im telling you...Cotto is gonna be giving Canelo so much movement you're gonna start seeing Canelo swing for the fences and spend his energy in the 1st 4-5 rounds. Cotto to me is gonna be the better conditioned guy because he's not cutting as much weight anymore and or putting back a lot of weight as will Canelo (which will tax him late). Body punching, jab, timing, footwork, and the X-Factor in the fight (The corners) will side with Cotto and I see him pulling off the win in one of his best performances (if not THE) to date.

Cotto takes too many punches.
Always has.

His defense has gotten a lot better under Freddy, but he's not gonna be able to make Canelo miss.
Canelo aint Geale. And Canelo aint 40 years old with bad knees like Sergio.

I'm betting the first quarter of the fight will be Cotto trying to jab and keep his distance away from Canelo's power.
Freddy wishes he could make Cotto dance and step in with combos, but Cotto aint Pacquiao.

:francis:

I got this going to Canelo by decision.

I think my thing with canelo is, he's simply not as skilled as cotto yet :yeshrug: . He's bigger younger and naturally more comfortable at the weight true. But cotto is quicker has better footwork better fundamentals head movement balance etc. canelo is definitely no slouch, and I admire his tenacity at such a young age. But I think he's bit off more than he can chew again brehs.

Cotto ain't gonna get caught w no damn windup right hook! James made first year boxing mistakes against canelo bc he wasn't focused. Look at how open and square he was when he got hit.
Cotto aint fighting a paper bag like Daniel Geale either.

I'm just saying that Canelo's power on Cotto is legit.
It'll be interesting to see if Canelo can generate any speed, because that's where I think he's a wee bit lacking.

Then again, has anyone ever hit Canelo with a good body shot?
If Cotto lands one....game over.

cotto is far from a defensive mastermind. canelo will most definitely land some big shots. this is the same cotto who got his ass taxed by austin trout. and yes, it's the SAME cotto. cotto hasn't faced elite competition since floyd and it's gonna show. lets not forget floyd had dude doin the stanky leg in there. canelo's power will take him by surprise and we're gonna see the same panicky miguel cotto as always. It's gonna be a close fight because canelo still makes a lot of mistakes himself. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get knocked down. but I just feel cotto is gonna feel overwhelmed eventually and get caught big. once canelo starts landing those thudding blows, cotto's whole gameplan gonna get sent to the bushes.
