A four-city press tour has been announced for the November 21st clash between Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez. It kicks off on Monday in Los Angeles, then heads to Mexico City the next day, followed by New York City on Wednesday and then concludes on Thursday in Cagaus, Puerto Rico.
All four events will be open to the public and more details will be released in the next few days.
Now the big question is: just when are tickets for this event - which takes place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas - go on sale?
Eric Gomez, the V.P. of Golden Boy Promotions told BoxingScene.com on Thursday afternoon at the Golovkin-Lemieux press conference - "Soon, very soon. We're just finalizing the details. So it's very soon. I don't have the exact date, yet, but it's going to be very soon."
Logic says that tickets will probably go on sale next week as the fight is formally announced.
The other question is just how much will these tickets cost?
Well, sources say that they will be priced at $2,000, $1,750, $1,250, $650, $350 and $150. But with the Mandalay Bay Events Center having a capacity of just 12,000 and with the high demand for this fight, this will be an awfully hard ticket to come buy for the public. Back in 1999 when Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad squared off in this venue, not a single ticket was made available to the general public as they were all taken by the casinos.
So will at least a few tickets be made available to fans at face value?
"I believe so," said Gomez. "That's the plan. There should be enough tickets made available to the public."
