Cotto didn't want to fight him.

He won the belt against Sergio Martinez, then did his voluntary defense against Daniel Geale. After that fight, lil g became the mandatory defense for Cotto. Cotto & lil g negotiated a step aside fee for Canelo vs Cotto to happen (a much bigger ppv fight than Cotto vs lil g) and it was set in place for lil g to face the winner. Canelo won, lil g came looking for the fight, but then they both negotiated a voluntary defense for the both of em (canelo vs khan, lil g vs wade to keep his ibf belt because he was about to be stripped if not) with the idea of Canelo vs lil g in September. Canelo switches his stance of fighting only at 155 and says he will fight lil g at 160 in his next fight....and then vacates the belt.

He did...but that was also before he became mandatory challenger which means the fight would HAVE to be at 160 or Canelo would be stripped. Canelo agreed to fighting at 160, for whatever odd reason, 2 weeks ago though. Then he dropped the belt.

Why if he had intentions on fighting lil g at 160? That's what I don't get. It looks bad. He has to fight him next.

Canelo backed himself into a corner

he ducked it, the boxing world agrees.
Ok when lil g next ppv does 1/4 of nelo's have the excuse ready. You think the biggest draw in the sport gives a fukk what the fans say? :russ:

These same fans still gonna let him eat so what difference does it make. :jawalrus:

Oh okay I can respect that but remember this is PRIZEFIGHTING, numbers are everything
making money is a big part of the game, but its not everything... every fighter wants to be known as the best, and its not by beating up the salkas of the world.

:camby: yourself from the internet and go develop some reading comprehension. Nothing to do with who Floyd fought, but how. Mexican fans (and I believe it was the breh @ChocolateGiddyUp who has posted comments straight out of Mexico here) don't care about Canelo's point of he had to weight drain for Floyd so GGG should do the same for him. Anything other than him fighting GGG is an excuse and a show of cowardice as far as they're concerned. Floyd fans didn't criticize him for the Cotto and Canelo catchweights, Canelo fans are calling him out for it.
You are comparing apples to oranges here dumbass...

Canelo and 97g both fight at 160 and walk around at 170...There is no reason whatsoever for that fight to have a CW...

Floyd is 147 pound fighter that walks around at 150...Why the fukk would we chastise him for demanding a CW against a nikka that comes in he night of the fight at 165 (which is what Canelo still did anyway)? Especially when that same nikka said he was perfectly comfortable with the weight...:what:

Cotton was a fukking WW fighting at his walk around weight at 154...2 pounds less than his walk around weight aint weight draining...That CW did not effect him in anyway shape or form...

Yo I love how quickly he escalates outta nowhere THIS nikka SCARED....

No amount of words to express the disappointment that I feel right now...

I can't ride with vacating the strap...

We ate well together but if this fight don't happen this is where we part ways...

I can't support ducking...

Is this the end of the cartel? :ohhh:

I sense in-fighting and mutiny on the horizon....:skip:

Canelo has never fought at 160 in his life.

it'll never be the end of the cartel as long as i'm here:myman:....or unless canelo quits:whoa:

I respect that....:obama:

If you're gonna Stan, then Stan proudly....:salute:

:dead:10/10

A lot of talking in circles in here though :jbhmm:

Above all else, Canelo's very own fanbase aren't co-signing this. If you're a fan of Ric Flair, you cheer for him when he plays dirty, when the horsemen interfere, and when he plays the businessman to avoid scraps on anything other than his terms.

But Mexicans demand their fighters be Stone Cold Steve Austin's, and if you're a Stone Cold fan and he pulled them Flair stunts he'd be looking like a fraud.

Canelo knows his reputation is at stake here, he's just really salty about it because he thinks the situation is unfair. Problem is, his fans demand/want different things from him than Floyd's :manny:

This analogy is actually perfect....:wow:

like loeffler said....all canelo did was stay true to his word. he wasn't gonna hold the belt hostage if negotiations were gonna go over the deadline. K2 wouldn't have allowed it. but as you see here, loeffler said no crazy weight or purse demands were made from GB. but when has a superfight ever been made in 15 days?...it was never gonna happen. especially in today's era.
