Many wondered if Alvarez, carrying a pay-per-view by himself for the first time and coming off a resounding defeat, would still generate enough fan interest to warrant becoming a PPV regular as he envisions. After the returns came in for the fight with Angulo (22-4, 18 KOs) on Friday, the answer is a resounding yes.

No. I think Oscar De La Hoya doesnt care at all about making Floyd vs Khan on the SAME date as Canelo vs Cotto. I believe that is his intentions period....to have a hand in BOTH fights on the same day if he can.

For you to think Oscar De La Hoya would deny his BIGGEST fighter's request for a May 2nd date (Canelo Alvarez) just to appease Amir Khan (who's signed to GB but is with Haymon as his manager) or Floyd (who's not even signed with Golden Boy)...I think that's ridiculous.

Again, Pacquiao is with Arum. Khan is with ODLH. Floyd cant make a fight with either of them fighters without Arum and DLH agreeing to put it together.....but Arum and DLH can go ahead and still do Canelo vs Cotto without anyone's interference as long as Cotto's satisfied with the terms. Give that nikka 10 mill guaranteed (being that Canelo has a 80/20 deal on PPV buys with Golden Boy so his upfront guarantees are always low) and the fight can be made.

I just found out that Khan is now a FA from Golden Boy and Showtime, but is still signed to Haymon as his advisor....so there REALLY isnt an incentive for ODLH to "push" for Floyd vs Khan unless Khan re-ups with GBP.

True, but Oscar's only trying to keep Canelo happy....and by that, all Canelo wants to do is fight on May 2nd, so I think that's a guarantee. If it's Cotto or not is the question, but I believe Canelo WILL be fighting on May 2nd, because that's all Golden Boy and Canelo talks about.


Canelo's options after Cotto are slim. Demetrius Andrade, Cornelius Bundrage, or Andy Lee would all be available and ready to fight on May 2nd.
