Canada and the US would never merge.

The one thing I would love to see the US and Canada some sort of reciprocity when it came to work.

Like because our educational and monetary systems are similar (even though different currencies) you should be able to work in either country without all that gotdamn paperwork. The economies are so intertwined it would be really good, to a degree.
Yeah, the US and Canada could have an EU-style freedom of movement arrangement where Americans and Canadians can live and work in either country without restrictions.

However, the Canadian government would be opposed to that for 2 primary reasons:

1) Many Canadians would flock to live in the US for higher salaries and housing.

2) Most illegal guns in Canada are trafficked through the border because of looser gun laws in the US. Canada wouldn't want more guns being trafficked in (for valid reasons).

It would be cool even if you had like a process where you got your passport in either country and then for like an additional feed make it valid for work with a stamp only for Canada and vice versa. There's already tons of Canadian nurses working in the US right now.

You already weeded out felons who can't get a passport on both sides. It would remove a lot of barriers.

He wasn't a good prime minister either. I'd rate them both trash

don't let nostalgia start changing perspectives now.

i want to live in a timeline where Jack Layton was elected instead of dead. fukk all these other clowns. Polivier or whatever is also trash
Harper was pretty much a silent prime minister and was not memorable. The Jean Chretien and Jack Layton years were good times.

Do Canadians think the cause of high housing costs fall solely on the shoulders of Trudeau? Cause that shyt is rampant everywhere US, UK, etc.
Tbh housing been janky but with the foreign buying, immigration, and the demand being higher than supply and the slow ass building of properties trudeau definitely sped up the process of it being unnattainable for millennials and the generations after.

He got nikkaz smoking on that loonie pack. Also if you on Welfare and children you can get your housing subsidized meanwhile if you trying to make an honest wage and living you can still live in your car or be lucky to get a one bedroom. I know someone living in a 3 bedroom townhouse on welfare meanwhile there people outchea making six figures and can barely get into a one bedroom and not even looked at for a mortgage.

it's part of being a leader :yeshrug: you want the power, you want the big seat, you have to take the blame when shyt goes bad. yes, inflation fukked the dems out of 2024, but covid arguably fukked trump out of 2020. so all things considered, it's kind of evened out

and since inflation was caused by politicians spending, and the left is worse on spending, it's not like they're totally blameless. pelosi is more responsible for inflation than any one person in the world; she was the speaker for all 3 covid bills

Imagine a world leader talking about a sovereign country like this
Man, Trump has always talked like this.

For instance, when Egypt complained to the US about the construction of Ethiopia's damn that provides clean power to East Africa, Trump said he would just blow it up.

That would be an act of war. US is hostile to Ethiopia all together, but that was the first time, overtly, a US president, to my recolection, just came out about blowing shyt up in a sovereign country, they weren't in a boots on the ground all out war with.

Tl;dr Trump has always been wildin' out.

Layton was never pm

But Layton was a good man and prob would have won if he never died

Chretien and Paul Martin were both good
