Because there's no funding. shyt...if I had to train by myself or with lower tier coaches in lower tier facilities I'd be happy just knowing I was able to compete with premier athletes.

Funding is huge. There's a big reason why countries that host Olympics always make a push. Cuz they actually decide to spend some fukking money. So it's hard for me to blame the athletes.

not only that but most of these athletes probably also need to support themselves. if they don't have sponsors that allow them to focus 100% of their time on training then they probably gotta get jobs etc which means less time to train and rest. this would slow down development.

plus you're not gonna get as many people willing to go fully in cause even if you have great talent, are you gonna be willing to risk putting all that time and money into this? some will some won't. one thing is for sure, if they get bigger sponsorships, more will be willing and you may find better talents.

we really don't have a lot of Blacks here in Canada

it's only in the major metro areas like toronto, montreal and ottawa were blacks are in higher numbers

were just over represented in sports, entertainment, media, etc.

there's probably more chinese and south asians in canada then black people

about 800k blacks in canada
80% live in ontario

theres over a million asians in toronto alone

It has improved, but that does not mean it is on par with other countries. Also, 3 years of funding will not help folk for a 2012 olympics.

How did Own the Podium come about? The Vancouver Olympics. There would not be any push in funding if the last winter games were somewhere else.
