I think alot of it has to do with knowledge/culture focus here too. I know for damn sure we could get a competitive handball team into the Olympics but you just don't hear about the sport much, unlike Europe. All this time I thought it was that shyt you play against a wall (which ironically is called American Handball). I don't think there is one league in T.O. for team handball (that I know of anyway.) Same example applies to other events where Canada is non-existent.

in teh late 80's up to 2000 canada had a solid ass run in track and field frm ben johnson to bailey, surin, esmie, gilbert now its flabby and sick.

Again, we just don't care about a lot of sports. It's not that we suck...we just don't give a fukk...unless it's hockey or skiing.

The DQ hurts, but a West Indian country ended up claiming the Bronze so I'm not all that mad. I must say....the West Indies showed up this Olympics....

Jamaica was ahead of the pack, but T&T did their thing along with Grenada and some other islands. That's a good look.

Wow at those stats. Exactly my point about Jamaica, lol. I heard about China saying they don't like how they dominate table tennis cause they think it's going to eventually hurt the sport. Then I proceed to drive through Markham and can't wrap my head around the fact that we don't have one young Asian-Canadian that can make a splash into the sport and kill that shyt.

Even worse when I look at the high school footage they aired about Jamaica. Every single highschool showing up to compete in track, its a HUGE event for them. We have nothing close to that in Canada (only back in elementary when they do the big meets at York). I then reminisce about my HS days from 1999-2003 and here's what our school had: boys soccer, boys/girls basketball, girls softball, no track! (or football), that's it. But yet we had a big ass track around a football field which was only used for soccer, lol. fukking terrible! Wasn't a cheap school either, just absolutely no focus. My bad on the rant brehs, but Bolt has more Gold medals than our entire country and he did it in 3 events, LOL.
