Can you tell the difference between the average ADOS and West African person at a glance?

This guy is an Americanized Nigerian. He's spent years trying to look American but despite that, you can see he's African. His face gave it away.

I'm not being disingenuous, I can easily spot an African from a mile away, and like I said in my first comment that facial features aren't the only way to distinguish an African and an ADOS individual if both were standing next to each other, it goes back to what I said about demeanor and personalities.

the kicker here is that chiwetel is british-nigerian not nigerian-american


most nigerians who grew up in atl or houston you can't tell apart

lets look at maxo kream he grew up in houston, you wouldn't know otherwise

what about tobi

unless they fresh off the boat, you can't really tell 100% of the time. maybe 60-70% like one poster said

The answer to OP's question is both yes and no.

The answer is really contingent upon the person's background. You can identify a "fresh off the boat" West African based on their clothing, footwear, hairstyle, or accent. A western African person born or raised in the USA is much harder to distinguish and a lot of the time if they don't open their mouth and tell you they're African, you're not going to automatically assume they are.

I noticed that AA's just 150 years ago look much more West African than today.
Mixing with other enslaved African groups in different parts of the US,
Native Americans, Europeans and general improved health + diet after emancipation resulted
in the unique look we associate with ADOS today.
Obviously this does not apply to all, but good majority.
You still have ADOS who wouldn't look out of place in West Africa and vice versa

Ain’t been around others to be able to really tell like that. Being a Deep South AA, that’s all I been around. Didn’t really see others until I went to college. I’m amazed at everyone able to differentiate between ethnicities. From what I’ve seen, I do think I can spot AA’s.

But nah, probably depends on how much Euro genes someone has. You are not going to find nikkas that look like this in West Africa, but there are a tona of look alikes all over the continent.

Im assuming this is based off Americanized immigrants/children of immigrants? Because you can obviously tell a foreigner by their accent.

I can usually tell an African off physical appearance, the only ones that get kinda tricky to point out are Nigerians sometimes, until I see their names.

I can easily point out Haitians lol. Other Caribbean people are kinda hard to point out off physical appearance, I can usually tell by the way they carry themselves. OT Genasis looks super African, so I was surprised when I found out he was from Belize.
