Transfer portal and NIL gave college football MUCH more parity.

SEC still has the most fertile recruiting ground...BUT they can no longer HORDE the depth. And other schools can come in and swoop the talent either from High school or the Portal

SEC days of flat out dominance are basically over

Still arguably the best conference tho

SEC bagmen have to deal with serious competition now from the other conferences and they can't accept the reality of it. BSPN can only spew their rhetoric for so long when the proof is being shown on national tv. Their playbook is now outdated and they struggling to adapt to the NIL environment.

Let’s revisit this after the playoff unless yall Big 10 nerds are really that excited about the results of the Cheez It Bowl and Bootleg Insurance Bowl
I think Texas, OU, Georgia and Bama will be fine because of how wealthy their bag men are and Alabama wanna keep up. The rest of the conference. :hubie:
(Would include A&M, but they can’t get out of their own way)

The Portal & players opting to not play has changed the landscape of college athletics.

The days of one conference dominating everything is over.

The most overrated conference. I've been saying that the SEC was overrated all year because the transfer portal killed their depth where they can't hoard talent anymore. Not one of the SEC teams this year is a Great team like the recent Alabama, Georgia, or LSU teams. They would be 9-3 in the SEC 5 years ago. Alabama lost to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma and ESPN acted like it was a tragedy that they couldn't make it in the playoffs. Now, they lost to the worst Michigan team in recent history.

The top 2 SEC teams are usually pretty good.

Problem is the middle/lower teams are assumed to be better than the middle/lower squads from other conferences.

What we are learning is that the SEC often has the best team, but after that it's a crapshoot from year to year. Too many middling schools eating off UGA, historical Bama and the random LSU/Auburn title years.

NIL and the portal bodied them. Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and the likes spend on football but technically they're not wealthy institutions
Facts.

SMU, Texas, Michigan etc., got deep pockets.

Stanford would be a serious problem except for the fact their academic standards are high. With Andrew Luck joining as GM, they might become a problem again.

Bagmen money is different than Silicon Valley money or Texas Oil/Wind money.
