Can we really blame Konami for tossing Kojima in the Bushes?

Mobile and pachinko are the reason they still exist.

Key word being exist. They are not living. They are not innovating. They are not doing anything exciting. They are simply just existing, and that is some boring fukking shyt, compared to what they were. Hell, Epic went and made Gears of War, which is what a next gen Contra game could have been. The Witcher 2 and 3 are the Castlevania games that could have been. Konami can’t do any of that because all they want is to make pachinko machines, and mobile games, because they don’t know how to make anything innovative for today’s world because ain’t no one kissing Japan’s ass like they did in the 90’s and early 2000’s. And what did they do? They got rid of the one person who could have attracted to talent to make all that shyt happen.

I never said he was the boss.
He's definitely the creative that kept the lights on at Konami, and I'm always going to be on the side of creatives and against big businesses that have no clue how to properly manage artists.
Downplaying kojima's role as creative is like downplaying miyamoto.

Why is konami sitting on a gold mine of game series that constantly got mediocre releases?

The best 3D castlevania game had kojima's name attached to it and konami fukked up the sequel without him.

:francis:

Silent hill should be as big as resident evil at this point but konami ruined that series with constant trash releases after the room.

Brought kojima on board and the hype for silent hill was unreal for a short time before konami killed it.

How can you justify it taking fukking 7 years to make a half-finished product? This was Hideo's fault, not Konami.
Its justified by kojima productions creating an entirely new game engine for the game. That's not cheap or easy to do, it's not like the metal gear series isnt profitable. Konami have more than enough games under their belt to not rely on metal gear solid to see profits from AAA game releases. Why was konami releasing rushed garbage from beloved game franchises while kojima was working on MGS5?

Silent Hills had Kojima, Del Toro, AND Junji Ito for art direction and Konami just said "fukk all that" :mindblown:

Some people actually care about games as an art (kojima) some just care about how much money can be made short term (konami)

In hindsight was that a good idea?

Did that engine make a game that couldn’t have been made using an existing engine?

Is that engine currently making money for Konami?

Metal gear series is not profitable enough to continue as Kojima had managed it, that’s the problem.

Considering that konami used the engine for other games I'd say yes it was worth it, if konami was actually interested in developing games they could have used it in other games and had their own game engine to license to other developers.

The metal gear series was as profitable as it needed to be, the problem is that konami expected that one series to prop up the entire company when they have other game series that could be just as profitable had they not been lazy in rushing out bullshyt games for them.

Why isnt castlevania as big as it should be? Why isnt silent hill on the level of resident evil? What ever happened to contra? Where is zone of enders? Mystic ninja could have been way bigger than it was. Konami is a shytty company when it comes to managing games and that's not kojima's fault.
