I dont think you understand the magnitude of what you're saying would cost. And that's discounting how ridiculous such a move would be. And discounting how racist it would be.

The proposed ideas of making them pay are equally terrible such as adding tariffs and taxing remittances which just has an impact on trade volumes and can divert or drive some money transfer business underground. There are also other people who assume Mexico receive billions of aid when the figure is in the millions. Anyone who knows anything about foreign aid probably knew that Israel, Egypt and Pakistan receive more US aid than many other countries. It's an idea that became central to Trump's message such that backing out of it now has become politically untenable.

I watched his speech with my sons, ages 11 and 13 and even they were able to point this small fact out. I don't quite think people know how long the mexican border is.
