Can we go back to tv shows with at least 20 episodes per season?

Naw im good

I think The Flash made me hate the 20+ episode seasons

you get way too much filler

10-12 episodes is the sweet spot IMO

only procedural shows like Law & Order should have 20+ episodes

no serialized show needs that many episodes

It works for sitcoms not for other stuff. I fukking hated how all the marvel Netflix shows had 13 episodes. Way too much filler.
Pretty much. It’s hard to write 22 episodes of a consistent story for a season of a drama show. Sitcoms can pretty much have as many wisdoms as you need since they’re only half an hour and you just gotta keep coming up with more jokes. You don’t necessarily need to follow a storyline.

If you want drama with A LOT of episodes, check out "Resurrection: Ertugrul" on Netflix.

It's in Turkish with English subtitles and covers the Templar Knights, rise of the Ottomans, the Mongols etc.

5 seasons total and EACH season has AT LEAST 70+ episodes......episodes are 45-ish minutes each. That shyt will keep someone occupied for a looooong time.

My pops used to sit up and watch that every night til 3 in the morning :russ:
I was home one night and I was like dad what you watching? He explained it to me and I said hmm ill put it on my list. I went home and and I was like damn this like 900 episodes :damn:

Network TV still makes shows with 20+ episodes a season.

Short seasons are mainly a cable and streaming thing.

I'm no snob, I enjoy network TV shows but keeping up with multiple cop procedural became overwhelming so I bushed them, also they go on forever with no end in sight! :damn:

I love cable dramas with 10 episodes and less than 10 seasons :ahh:

I miss it. Most of my all-time favorite shows are 22-24 episode seasons. Even on network, a lot of series are now only getting half-season orders. Cable has always done series with 8-12 episodes per, and BBC was like 8 per. It's like television has become a string of miniseries, and most aren't even good...same as always.

Filler has nothing to do with the length of the show. Hell, there's filler episodes in most of these 8-10 episodes shows, and it's not like the acting has become that much better.

I hear what you guys are saying about the difference between networks and streaming. But cable networks used to have 12-15 episodes a season. Let's go back to that.

Now, it's usually a year or more wait for 8 to 10 episodes.

There's too much content out there. Most show creators hated making more than 10 episodes because it wasn't about the story as much as it was about getting more ads. But like others have said, it works for sitcoms.

Not just getting more ads but they film so many episodes so that the studio can then sell the shows in syndications for the next 20 years.

No matter how many episode they make, there will be the same amount of quality content. All you get with additional episodes is filler.
