Can someone please explain to me how Breaking Bad is considered the GOAT show?

Show isn't the goat Dexter but I do like the relationship dynamic between the husbands and the wives on the show

I'm in the middle of Season 4 and while the show is intriguing and has a very complex storyline, I find myself getting frustrated at all the loopholes in this show. There's so many things that don't really add up and it can be down right annoying getting through an episode because of how much this show reeks of white privilege. It's cool but the way people were talking about it over the past couple of years, I was expecting way more, especially to be in 4 seasons. I started watching it at the end of September on Netflix and binge watch a few episodes here and there. I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm saying its way less than what I expected. So far 3 out of 5 stars generously.
:heh:
On one hand I want to say "get irritated over white privilege in a show purposely exploring white middle class angst and entitlement" but on the other hand I don't want to give any legitimacy to this fukking retarded complaint which clearly based on your post is just you getting in the way of yourself.
And on the rest either you're going to get it or you're not.
Enjoy what you want to enjoy.
I don't think "Breaking Bad" is better than "The Sopranos" or "The Shield", I even prefer "Sons of Anarchy". Walt is a smart guy but he's kind of a wimp (obviously has a suburban wife and kids and is a teacher). I think Skyler had too much power over him too, that whole Ted Bennekke (or however you spell his name) incident made me lose some respect for him as a character :yeshrug:
He should have manned up ad took the divorce when she could have turned him into the police rather than sneaking back into the house and harassing her/acting like a possessive lunatic and turning Junior against her while using Holly as a prop.
He brought it on himself, the relationship was over.

The thing with The Wire is, there are so many well thought out characters that people who watch the whole series can end up taking a different thing from it.

Some people may like the streets side and how realistically it was shown, but I got how the mayor, Tommy Carcetti, worked hard to become the mayor only to find out it wasn't what is was cracked up to be when he had to (SPOILER) choose between using the budget on schools or the police. I could relate to that.

Breaking Bad is about 2 white guys who turn to drug dealing because one has a terminal illness :mjpls: like as if it should be OK because he's trying to put money aside for his family :camby:The story is not even that good, let alone the GOAT show. And people rave about it.
What's wrong with the premise of a bitter self emasculated middle class white man who feels like he's wasted his genius going through a mid life crisis choosing to use his cancer and family as an excuse to let his true desires free?
Why does it need to be realistic?

Breaking bad is a great first watch show. You shut your brain off and enjoy the tension and bryan cranstons brilliant performance.

BUT. The show has 0 depth. It does not stand up on repeated viewings. So much of the show is built on tension and suspense and after 1 viewing thats gone. Theres nothing else to really sink your teeth into beyond that. In fact, on 2nd viewing a lot of the show becomes very silly in retrospect.

I watched the show front to back 3 times. Each time I liked it less and had more complaints.

Compared to the wire and mad men, which both get better on every viewing and you catch new things that you missed. Ive watched the wire front to back 7 times now,and every viewing I come away with something new to think about and breakdown.

The vast majority of people dont rewatch shows like that though,so BB glaring flaws dont get talked about that much.

Lol @ Dexter mentions

Did y'all watch the last four seasons or nah?
If the show had ended after season four it would have a case. But that show was downright fukking awful the last few seasons with one of the woat finales Ive ever seen. Such a shame it got run into the ground.

Season 1 is very good.

2-3 waver between good and legitimately terrible.
House of cards had so much potential. Soon as frank turned into a murderer it was just fukking silly. I havent even gotten around to watching season 3 yet thats how dissapointed I was in s2.
