But this right here is the problem when you try to reduce an important conversation to 'whataboutisms'.

Do you have any idea how many rappers have lost their lives to gun violence? No other genre even compares. The rest are Mother Goose Club by comparison.

How is it Whataboutism if it's telling the truth?

Cam brought up the point other genres don't have these problems when it's literally untrue

Not to mention it's not a one to one comparison. Rappers prominently come from lower income areas of the country with high crime rates. Versus someone like a country singer from the suburbs putting on a costume like their working class.

But it's supposed to be the music's fault that the rapper from the hood is in violent beefs that transcend rap and not the cac from the suburbs :dahell:

Conversations like this just show who's either far removed from these issues or just a straight up cac

Cause this is the case all around the world. Music artists from poor areas of the world will be more likely to have violent beefs cause of their direct ties to crime.

It's just old money vs new money. The mafia and bootleggers that helped finance the music industry is far enough removed that it's legitimate money now

Whereas rappers don't have that privilege and will likely get on by being financed by the streets.

But nah, let's just ignore the wider socio-economic implications just to say "rap music bad. Blacks too dumb to notice" :unimpressed:

This little diatribe is negated by the fact that the music being put out is actually FUELING the violence.

Drill music is nothing but thinly veiled messages sent out between rival gangs.

You talk as if people from low income communities are somehow predisposed to violence. This is far from the truth. Lil Durk, to give a recent example, is a millionaire who is still orchestrating hits in the streets.

Chief Keef while being an early influencer of drill has completely removed himself from the street level politics. These guys literally choose to push this content that encourages violence in black communities. A lot of youth are perked out and zombified against a backdrop of morbid music that literally tells them to go out and catch 'opps'.

That's the point. No other genre of music has its artist out encouraging violence in their communities.

You don't know what street shyt 90s rappers were involved in because there wasn't any social media. They could have been doing the same as these drill rappers.
Post some tracks from the 90s where streets rappers are making detailed tracks bragging about shootings making tracks with multiple death threats naming victims while simultaneously getting mainstream co signs :francis:

Ok I get it you’re being contrarian

But imagine if artist all over America was making songs like that describing what shootings they did previously while actively trying to murder each other

Yeah it’s exactly the same as dj quick and Mc Eiht :francis:

So talking about what gangstas have always done on record is a problem but gun talk, drug dealing & everything else that’s been prevalent in rap for over 40 years was of God.

Contrarian :russ:
